Ding ding ding!
John Kerry
I hope not, I hope it’s McCain/Barbour.
The trouble with Pawlenty is his weak re-election victory. He barely won, with less than 50% of the vote. This is going to be a tight race, and I think that's puts a lot of pressure on the nominee to add a VP who's popular enough to help swing one of the borderline states.
According to local talker Jason Lewis (subs a great deal for Rush, lately) the fix is in with the “canservative” machine in DC. They are pushing McCain and Pawlenty. And anyone who doesn’t agree is being told to get out of the way.
Pawlenty has steadfastly claimed that he has no designs on the VP job and will serve out his term.
However, he has been aligning himself with McCain, especially on global warming and ethanol. And Tim is McCain’s co-national chair.
canservative=conservative.
“Is Pawlenty pro-life and pro-2nd Ammendment?”
Well, he was.... I’ll guess we’ll have to see how far he’ll go to be the VP.
Jeb and McCain see eye to eye on the immigration issue.
A perfect match.
Although I voted for him as governor, I would not want him anywhere near the White House.
you had it right the first time.
No “conservative machine” is pushing McCain anywhere except maybe in front of a bus.
Mel Martinez!
BTW, love the tagline. : )
I've been wondering where McCain and Huckabee have been getting their funding. Today, the WSJ ran a story telling where Huckabee's money is coming from, but the odd thing is that the donor has ties to McCain, not Huckabee. His name is Charles Lindner.
In case the name doesn't ring a bell for you:
The Keating One,' and Carl Lindner From 1981the year before John McCain ran for U.S. Congressuntil the early 1990s, the former Navy pilot was totally beholden to junk bond swindler Charles Keating for his political fortunes. When the S&L scandal exploded and Federal prosecutors were breathing down Keating's neck, it was McCain who tried to bully Federal regulators into backing off. While the affair became known as the "Keating Five" scandal, none of the other members of the Senate and House implicated in the ethics violations, were as closely tied to Keating as John McCain.
And Charles Keating was no "loan assassin." He was but one player in a larger organized crime apparatus that ran the $200 billion-plus rip-off, in what may have been the biggest actual RICO (racketeering) scheme ever.
Between 1959 and the late 1980s, Charles Keating was the business partner of Carl Lindner, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based financier who would be one of the central figures in the $200 billion S&L rip-off. In 1959, Lindner and Keating co-founded American Financial Corporation (AFC). Keating served as the mortgage and insurance company's general counsel, and later as vice president.
Between 1974 and 1976, Lindner and Keating engineered a series of stock purchases and mergers with some of the leading figures in the Lansky crime syndicatewho had followed the Bronfman family recipe, and gone from "rags, to rackets, to riches, to respectability."
Mel is more likely than Joe, actually.
I am glad you like my tag line. I never change it.
