Well since 2008 has been a disaster and we don't need to bring any of the current candidates back for a redo next cycle, it's time to look ahead.
I for one am of the opinion that my Governor, Haley Barbour would be a good choice if he were to run. His term in Mississippi will be done and he will have made good on his commitment to us. He will have been a two term Governor and is good on a variety of issues. Add to that his performance during Katrina, and the contrast Mississippi was to Louisiana and we have a winner.
So...
Haley Barbour 2012, because he has experience in Disaster Recovery
Jindal 2012!
And if the RNC is smart, they would give Jindal as much exposure as possible at this year’s convention. He is the rising star in the party.

For several years now I had been hoping Haley would run. Disappointed he didn’t. Guess I can settle for 2012.:-)
Haley is a great guy. He needs to put smooth stones in his mouth and practice articulation though. Very gravelly, heavily accented voice.
I think Bobby will be like Haley and want to complete the job in LA first, but then I think it will be his turn, he is young and has time, and we’ll need him later.

We have three good conservative governors in the South, two proven and one up-and-coming—Barbour in Mississippi, Sanford in South Carolina, and Jindal in Louisiana. I’m just not sure, after Clinton, Bush, and Huckabee, if anybody is going to be ready for yet *another* Southern governor for President in 2012.

I think Steele as McCain’s VP choice would be brilliant. Black conservative from a blue state.
Unfortunately, McCain’s most likely has already prostituted himself to Huck.

Steele is super conservative and would not be a choice McCain would make.

Not a bad guy, but Romney will undoubtedly be back for the 2012 race presuming McCain loses, and Romney will be the frontrunner in that particular contest.
Heck, McCain may not go for a 2nd term even if he wins this year.
