Neil Young: 'Bush Deserves More Credit'

Veteran rocker Neil Young has defended George W. Bush for sticking to his vision of how to lead America. Friday, February 15, 2008

Veteran rocker Neil Young has defended George W. Bush for sticking to his vision of how to lead America -insisting the U.S. president deserves more credit than he gets.

The "Heart Of Gold" star, who has lived in California for over 40 years but remains a Canadian citizen, believes Bush isn't as stupid as his public image may suggest.

The 62-year-old says,"You've got to give the guy credit. Do I agree with him? No. Do I think he's stupid? No. Do I think he's a leader? Yes. He led. He took this country where he wanted to take it. And he steadfastly stuck with it all the way."

Just wow. This is a guy who wrote a song called "Impeach The President" and has been doing an anti-war tour. Bush might be a lot of things...but there are going to be a lot of people who are going to miss his leadership.

My bet is history will be kind on many levels to him. But not on others.

Young made a great comment last week as well...”i finally have come to the conclusion that music can’t change the world”...thought that was great stuff..might be a moment of clarity.

Thinking about GWB makes me sad. So much potential for greatness, but so much of a weakness of trying to please his political enemies.

We had the executive and legislative branches for goodness sake, and we just p***ed away the opportunity.

Curious since the next post is about the Presidents time in office. I think that history will be much kinder to this President than many (some even here) have been.

He'll be right up there with LBJ...and deservedly so.

IIRC Young supported Reagan to the chagrin of the artsy community.
