It’s not that we need more Bristols. Really, what we need are more tracks with individuality. Most of the places that are really storied and beloved in NASCAR, places like Bristol and Darlington, were one of a kind when they were built. You’ve got Bristol’s gladiator arena, Darlington’s weird egg shape, Daytona’s and Talladega’s immense size, Charlotte’s revolutionary (at the time) quad-oval, Pocono’s triangle, the new Richmond’s “D” shape. They aren’t these generic all-the-same tracks they’re building nowadays, either mile-and-a-half quad-oval Charlotte clones or two-mile D-oval Michigan clones.
We need fewer mile-and-a-halfs on the schedule and a couple more short tracks like a Wilkesboro/Richmond type, IMO. RIR usually has excellent racing.

I went to the spring race in Richmond last year..first time I’d been to a short track..it was a lot of fun..
