Yeah but there has to be a cap hit for this year since these contracts do have bonus money that gets spread out. If you cut the guy then I believe that you eat all of his remaining unallocated bonus coin.
15 million was the gauranteed morney on the 6 year contract. I’m not totally certain that the cap hit has to be spread equally across all years. Do you know the rules on this? I thought the teams have leeway. If so, they may (or would) have already taken most of the cap hit during the past two seasons. If the hit has to be spread equally across all years, then it is only 2.5/year for the next 4.
I haven’t heard the talking sports media state that there is any cap hit with Alexander’s cut. Given that Jake Long just got 30 million guaranteed for 5 years, I think Seattle won’t be effected by this amount. Miami better hope Jake Long doesn’t come with Tony Mandaritch feet.
