Not to rain on your parade, but the Dollar Store is where old merchandise goes to die. It’s stuff the manufacturers couldn’t sell or had laying around the warehouse or even found in a warehouse somewhere.
"China has a thriving capitalist economy..."
We're fully aware that the ruling elite never eschewed money since the Revolution. We call them Communists because that's the term we use. There's that pesky political aspect to their system. If you want to boot lick authoritarian thugs, who are a adversary of the USA, then "emergent market" will do fine.
The Dollar stores (there are several chains) are not job lot stores like Big Lots or other stores that specialize in liquidated inventory. Family Dollar for instance has thousands of stores and several distribution centers. As such they have alot of buying power and primarily sell their own generic-type brand.
Alot of times, it’s redesign. Change to product specs, so they put out all the old stock on the cheap.
They could be counterfit? I’d have one tested for lead etc.
My point was that the bowl he bought may have been made by a company that has been out of business for the past decade.
Just as long as USA is not the name of some obscure Chinese village. 8^)
I bought some wood dowels at Home Depot the other day. I happen to check out the label and I couldn’t believe they were MADE IN CHINA. WOOD !!!! We have trees in the US, don’t we?
Yes, but they can't be harvested because of all the greenies sitting at the tops of them. ;o)
All the more reason to harvest them. :)
Of course, the bad news is those ‘made in America’ stickers were made in China. ;-P
.
LOL!
Very good potlatch!
I like the guy’s shorts up under his arms...LOL.
.
Yeah -
Billy Crystal used to do that in a TV skit!
Some others too, but I can’t recall. Always a funny thing.

Did more research and found...
About American Plastic Toys
American Plastic Toys has proudly manufactured safe toys in United States since 1962. We currently operate a total of three facilities in Michigan and Mississippi. Our product line includes over 125 different items ranging from a simple sand pail to a play kitchen set.
We assemble 100% of the toys in our product line in the United States. Most of the components in our products are molded in our plants or purchased from US companies. Less than four percent of our toy value content is imported from the Far East. The majority of this small percentage consists of sound components and fasteners. Toys with imported components only represent 25% of our entire product line. None of these components are painted.
Every American Plastic Toys product is tested by at least one independent U.S. safety-testing lab to ensure that it complies with applicable safety standards. We provide a toll free number to contact our office if consumers have a question or concern related to our products.
Our products are sold in most major North American mass merchants including but not limited to Wal*Mart, Toys R Us, Sears/Kmart, JC Penney, Family Dollar Stores, Big Lot, etc. Many of our products are also available on the Internet through JC Penney, Walmart.com, Target.com, Amazon.com, E-toys etc. Our product is also available in many regional retail outlets.
Thank you for your interest in American Plastic Toys and your future consideration in purchasing our Made in USA products.
