My wife needed a cheap plastic bowl to keep some snacks in for a party held by a local school. And by God, she goes to the Dollar Store to pick one up, and there is a whole shelf of plastic 10 inch fruit bowls by GOD, all labeled MADE IN THE USA.
And these were nice ones.
With so much bad news, I just had to share this good news.
It is what I want to see. I want to see MADE IN THE USA. I kissed the plastic fruit bowl.
You know those plastic Sterilite brand storage totes and containers they sell at WalMart, Target, and other places by the truckload?
They’re all made in the USA, too. I’ve been buying them for years and have never seen one that was *other* than US-made.
Please do let us know what you find out.
Well thank the LORD for that!
I want to buy a truck load of them myself!
Great! Now I don’t feel like such a hypocrite for shopping at the Dollar Store.
Stock up on this future Collector’s item, soon to be replaced by a Chinese fruit bowl!
My wife picked up sand toys and the bucket was quality, turned it over and it read MADE IN THE USA!
Unfortunately, Rubbermaid tends to be made in China... I originally bought Sterilite stuff because it was cheaper.
So, oddly enough, the cheaper product is made in the US...
Sterilite products have helped simplify and organize our lives for more than 65 years. Manufactured in the U.S., our storage solutions are found in homes, schools, and offices.
Stock up on this future Collectors item, soon to be replaced by a Chinese fruit bowl!
The Chinese version will come with a free tube of Toothpaste with extra Radiator coolant.!!!
To HELL with Communist Chinese Fruit Bowls! I’m an old school ANTI-COMMUNIST. Remember us?
To HELL with Commie Crap!
To HELL with poison dog food MADE IN CHINA!
To HELL with the REGIME IN CHINA!
FREE THE CHINESE PEOPLE FROM THE COMMUNIST PIGS!
Communism ISN’T EVEN “MADE IN CHINA” - it ISN’T EVEN CHINESE!
COMMUNISM is a WESTERN DISGRACE! To HELL with Karl Marx!
If China wants something “MADE IN CHINA”, then pray the youth of China throws OUT the Communist regime and put’s in something that actually IS “MADE IN CHINA” - and that is a government that HONORS TRUE Chinese CULTURE, and not this Western Communist CRAP!
FREE TIBET!
FREE CHINA!
“pray the youth of China throws OUT the Communist regime”
Done.
I really wish I had enough money to send all of the folks who believe that China is still "communist" on a trip to Shanghai or Guangzou to see the thriving private-sector economy that has been flourishing for over a decade. I'll let the Birchers continue to believe their mythology about contemporary China in the meantime.
What is this phrase you speak of, “Made in the USA”? I do not understand your words.
You are referring to few “special economic zones” at the large coastal cities. Most of those “private” companies are owned by party functionaries. China has turned from a classic Communist economy to a semi-capitalist economy at the service for the state. This is similar to fascist economics. The vast back-land of China however is still a corrupt communist rat’s hole.
Regardless of their economics, China is still a Commie tyranny, with no democracy, no basic freedoms and a all powerful Government. They are Communist tyrants who have figured out to use capitalist tools to empower themselves.
This was already done by Lenin with his NEP in 1921. Would you call him a capitalist?
The NEP was a joke, as was every economic initiative ever proposed by any Russian in history. In the NEP, it was merely foreign investment propping up the early Soviet economy. China has a thriving capitalist economy and a growing middle class, making it one of the largest consumer societies in the world. And, in case you haven’t heard, much of the development is now in the interior, in places like Chon Qing, not just on the coast.
Chinese companies buy former US manufacturing lines by weight (10 cents a pound?). Sometimes, things like moulds and dies are used directly without alteration. So, if the original mould had a ‘Made in the USA’ marking on it, the Chinese might have not bothered to alter it. (To the extent that they don’t care, an example would be how some Tibet protest flags were actually made in China!).
Of course, I could be wrong.
Dude. That's what your wife is for.
If it was Dollar General, they indeed carry quite a few items made in the U.S. Seems that a lot of the other “dollar” stores do not carry as much.
