One point from the quarterfinals, a shrieking Maria Sharapova again came up short at the French Open. Bidding for the only Grand Slam title she has yet to win, the top-ranked Sharapova twice blew big leads in the second set Monday and lost to fellow Russian Dinara Safina, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Sharapova's customary screeches reached maximum volume as the match slipped away, and the noise seemed to annoy fans. They whistled and booed Sharapova as she left Court Suzanne Lenglen after the match, and she didn't acknowledge the crowd.

Wow! Talk about esoteric.

How did your team in the WNBA do yesterday?

Is she the one with the sassy dog in the comercial?

I do like him. (”This area is working for me”)

I don’t watch WNBA. I did watch some of the Women’s CWS.

I don’t like Sharpova AT ALL! That whole shreaking thing drives me nuts as does her crazy dad. And is there really a mom? We’ve never seen her - Sketchy!

It’s a man thing.

On a serious not, have you watched any Women’s Softball World Series?
Wow!!
The pitchers sling that ball about as fast as a hardball pitcher.

Did you see that commercial where former slugger John Kruc tries to hit one of those female softball pitchers and whiffs on 2 pitches?

No way a former big league batter who has some semblance of his game doesn’t pound those pitchers after seeing a couple of pitches for timing.

He was talking about that during the WCWS & said that because of the the ball movement he couldn't hit them. It's true, a softball has much more movement than a baseball. Plus Kruc's better days are behind him.

Not only is she still playing, now that Maria is out, she has a great shot at the title.

Not only does she look good, she plays very well also.

And yes, the Sharapova, screaming and grunting is overdone and unnecessary.

I do so enjoy young, petite women in skimpy outfits, but when they try to act like men, they might as well be wearing a man’s suit.

Actually, there's a show on Fox Sports called something like "sports science" I think ... I can't recall the exact name, and they examine the science behind things that happen in sports... And they did bring up a minor league player to hit against Jenny Finch (rules apply here)

What they found was that these softball pitchers really were harder to hit against than a lot of top MLB pitchers, for a few reasons. While someone like Jenny has a top speed of around 75 or 80 mph pitched underhand, the pitching rubber is closer to home plate, resulting in less time between the pitch and the time when the batter must swing by a few thousandths of a second. Meaning the batter has less time to react. Another issue is the underhand throw. If you remember some of the underhand pitchers in MLB were extremely hard to hit against, because the batter simply isn't used to seeing a ball delivered like that. And a rising pitch causes all sorts of problems for a batter. Oh, who cares... Let's get back to the rules...
