Very funny! And OC is very nice. Just don’t hook up with any deranged couples who might chop you into little pieces.
To: Gabz
The establishment is still there the turtle is missing! Maybe it's being held for ransom in the form of Tugo's Pizza?

It hasnt been the same since they shut down the Ocean Casino on 9th street.... no more SkeeBall. :( I love SkeeBall. I used to play it where I grew up on the Jersey shore. I heard the Trimper family was going to shut down their entire operation if the city didn't cut them some slack on the revaluation, and therefore the taxes, on their property. I couldn't imagine OC without Trimper's rides and amusements. The carousel alone is supposed to worth more than a million bucks. Rehobeth is nice but just isn't the same - and it's a long drive. I hope the city came to their senses.

RE: Thrasher's:
People who've never had 'em just can't understand why anyone would wait in line for 20 minutes just to get a bucket of fries.
Thrasher's on the boardwalk, IIRC, does more sales per square foot than any other retail business in the country. Yes, they're that good.

There are also alot of Irish girls in OCMD, but I do love all of the girls from the Eastern European nations.
Goto Julia’s on 11th and the Boards or 6th and the Boards for the best Italian Ice and Canoli’s anywhere. Julia Papa has been making canolis there since my parents were teenagers. They are the best I have ever had.

re: Illegal Immigrants
Do you go to the beach at the Inlet? That is where all of the illegals hangout.
To: CollegeRepublican
yeah, that’s where we were.

Every resort community attracts illegals. I was there last year as well, and they were, at most, 5% of the crowd, with most working the stands/taking out the trash.
I actually see less illegals on the Jersey Shore this year than, say, three years ago.

Really? Because I saw many of them roaming in packs on the boardwalk, mostly young, punching the punching bags and looking around for someone to challenge them.

Sounds like Sleazeside, er, Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The main difference being the the "roaving youths" are a mixed bag (Guidos from Staten Island, blacks from Newark, native born and immigrant Hispanics, etc.).
I was on the north end of the boardwalk early in the day. I saw a few illegals, but they didn't "rule the boardwalk." Wildwood in Jersey, and the aforementioned Sleazeside are worse in terms of thuggery than Ocean City, MD. I'm sure things get worse at night, however.

You know, even as someone who isn’t that far removed from the young male demographic (I turn 28 on July 4), I think there is something to the argument that there’s no outlet to male energy as there once was. You used to send these ruffians to war, or as a “punishment,” force them into the military. That would “thin out the herd” or straighten them out.

Yes, they're that good.
Indeed they are.

Goto Julias on 11th and the Boards or 6th and the Boards
I used to live at 511 Boardwalk (Kite Loft) when it was a pretty cool rooming house. I still say hi to Julia when I fly by on my Mike's Bike rental.
