It was a church. The Temple of Aurora.

You don't buy the Brooklyn-WatchTower building scenario? Just thought it was cool.

Who knows with Moore. I can’t wait to get my hands on the season four dvds with the commentaries.

I mean the man smokes some odd natural indian tobacco from NW and drinks scotch.

I think it was both. The Original series had the underlying Mormon theology. I think RDM and the writers are just having fun with throwing in these Jehovah Witnesses references with the reimagined series. So yes it’s the Temple of Aurora but we the viewers can have a chuckle about it being the Watchtower building. Of course if the RTF consisted of 144,000 then we’d definitely know that we were on to something big!!

Just for the sake of argument, there's no reason it couldn't have been the same site, and even the same building as the "Watch Tower". Maybe in the BSG universe, this "Watch Tower" eventually gets renamed/retasked to be the "Temple of Aurora" some number of years from now, and it's only well after that (and whatever holocaust took place) that the Galactica arrives.
