Yahoo Email Using IE Version 6

Posted on 06/21/2008 12:54:37 PM PDT by hsmomx3

Anyone else experiencing problems in the last week using Internet Explorer version 6, Windows XP?

I am using the "old" Yahoo email as opposed to their new email layout due to the configuration.

When I attempt to click on any email to open it, it freezes and I get the gray box that says an error has ocurred from MSFT asking if I want to report the error.

At first, I submitted the info. and saw that there is no fix for the problem and never gave the type of error.

However, if I access Yahoo email using Firefox, all is fine.

I do not have a virus on the system as it has been scanned on a daily basis.

I use the same. A long time ago I resisted the new Yahoo email format but I can't remember why I did it - or why I finally switched except that I had problems.

Can't you just use the new format?

I am using the old version because the new one is harder to read and you have to change the screen resolution.

My only problem is in IE when using the old Yahoo whereas before last week, I had no problems at all using Yahoo email.

Same here.
If I’ve been to a website other than Yahoo, then try to get to Yahoo mail, it freezes up. What I do is clear my cashe, history, etc, then go back to Yahoo mail. It’s been that way for some months now. Sometimes I have to close the browser and start over.

I’ve had no issues with IE6 since getting my MacBook Pro. :)

I have IE6 too, but I just never use it. Substituting Firefox for IE eliminates 95+ percent of spyware, adware, and other infections that are browser-based.

If you want to use IE, upgrade to 7. It’s much more secure, much more standards compliant, and much less buggy. A darned good browser.

That being said, I do my every day browsing with Firefox.

I had problems with Yahoo when using their new product whereas I had no problems when I went back to the old one.

This seems to be the opposite of your problem. Go figure.
