Ah. That might be it. What color was it?

Kind of pinkish, with sparkles.

Pinkish...that sounds about right. But I wonder where the sparkles came from?

I hope it hasn’t been wandering in the Lower Levels, again. Every time it goes down there, it comes back with something I can’t think of.

I’ve repressed my memories of the Lower Levels, too. Maybe it got into the craft supplies before settling by the toaster.

That’s possible. I’ll get it and see what I can do to clean it up. It’s gotten a little dirty, lately. (Maybe the sparkles are camoflage...)

"Morning, Bob. I guess I should get dressed before it’s afternoon!"

If the President of the United States is not put off by your casual style of dress, who am I to raise an objection?

Here's a happy image for you all. I have to start getting ready for church, including writing the Boy Scouts announcement in Spanish.

"Every time it goes down there, it comes back with something I can’t think of."

If your brain could think of it, it wouldn't need to wander off in quest of it.

That’s true.
Maybe it’s just curious. Or not.

My mind wanders too.

It leaves my body with my vacuously smiling face, and slithers away on its slimy pursuits.

Then, when it returns, I write another chapter.

I’d like to do that, but mine doesn’t want to hold that thought.

'Face! A little step-by-st. Audacity 1.3.5 beta on startup:

Photobucket

Photobucket First thing is to click o the arrow by the microphone. THis gives you a menu where you click on "Start Monitoring." It helps to have a sound source (LP, radio) at this point. Actually it's best to have your LP playing because you'll need to set levels in a minute.

Photobucket You'll see a single-channel meter (upper right). The blue bar shows you recent peak volume. The next thing is to start a project by clicking on "Save Project As..." It'll ask for a project name: I usually give it "(Artist)-(Album)", such as "Beatles-WhiteAlbum."

Photobucket Add new stereo track.

Photobucket When you're ready, press "Record."

Photobucket It's now recording (you can delete the upper track if you see it -- I may have made an error somewhere). Notice both channels are being metered,

Photobucket You can now set the volume control (oops, to the right out of the picture).

Photobucket But don't set it too high. If the little red bar at the very right of the meter comes on, the volume is too high and the peak music will be distorted.

When done, I save the entire project (filetype .aup) so I can edit it later.

This might get you started on recording. You can play back the project too and listen to it.

This part is, once you've figured where the key parts are. I posted this to provide a kind of roadmap. Editing is not too hard either, if you don't make a certain mistake -- but it's possible they fixed what made backing up from a mistake difficult.

But I won't know until much later. Time to get the household up, and I won't be back until late afternoon.

Bye..
