Cracking The Code (Beach Volleyball Signals)
NBC ^

Posted on 08/05/2008 12:31:17 PM PDT by manapua

Hand signals are frequently used by beach volleyball players to communicate to their partners. The signals -- one or two fingers down, closed fist, etc. -- generally let their partner know who should attempt a block at the net on their opponents' return.

You call them signals, I call them view blockers.

Can’t one team read another team’s signals?

Volleyball: A sport where saying such things as, “Nice dink!” is common and accepted.

The player in front is signaling behind his or her back to the partner who is serving behind. The front player is essentially calling the positioning for the other team’s return of the serve.

Cracking The Code

Not going to touch this line. Much too easy to get suspended or banned.

“I sure as heck won’t be lookin’ at no hand signals.”

Yes and I believe their *uniforms* should be standard fare for *most* female Olympic athletes.

Yeah, the ladies are a bit on the skinny side, but who is looking at their hands?

Hand signals were used when I played in college in the late 70’s.

You wouldn’t want to see me in a beach VB outfit... then or now. :)

I wouldn’t say they’re too skinny. Their bodies are fit and muscular. They look fine.

I’d say a significant amount more research is needed.

I must disagree. They're muscular and athletic, and most of them are HOT.

OK, actually checked out slideshow at the link.
Obviously the article was just a lame excuse for a whole “bunch of bikini butts!”

Only if the team is from New England and the coach endorses the filming of signals......
