Does it taste like Chicken?? :-)

A few days later, a lady from the embassy responded with the name of a gourmet meat dealer in Oregon (of all places!). He did indeed have Kangaroo meat, but it was outrageously expensive (something like $80/lb, not including shipping charges!). The Ozzies will have to produce much cheaper Kangaroo for it to catch on.> The problem might be at your end
Wild Oz $9.99/Kg = $US5/lb

My parents brought me a packet of kangaroo jerky when they visited Australia. As I recall, it was pretty lean and flavorless. But I suppose novelty jerky marketed to tourists isn’t the best thing to judge kangaroo meat on.

eat kangaroos and save the world
From what I think I've read, kangaroos have become a problem due to overpopulation just like deer have in parts of the U.S.
I think Australia is trying to generate a new industry which will in turn help reduce the kangaroo populations and turn a profit for the country at the same time...........just a guess.

We have had kangaroo before, it was pretty darn tasty. It made us hoppy. ;-)

THat could well be. I got the impression that the vendor catered primarily to those with more cash than sense.

Australian scientists have come up with a unique way to combat climate change: eat kangaroos and save the world.
I have a better idea:
Have the great white sharks eat these Australian scientists. That will save the world.

...so they eat the fooder in the pasturesHey hey, "fooder". Don't think this will go unremarked around here :-)

Make that three. I also choose not to eat red meat for my health but serve it to my family (lean cuts in moderation). I’m more of a “flexitarian”. I eat seafood and sometimes poultry.

Yes, I am aware that its done on a small scale but most people wouldn’t have a bar of it.
