Will Fay survive the rugged terrain of Hispanola? Is the Gulf of Mexico prepared for another tropical storm? Stay tuned...

Thanks for the ping and thread. Hopefully Fay will not threaten life or property.

The East Coast of Florida remembers Charlie ... Walmart is facing the triple-whammy today: usual Sunday heavy load + back to school tomorrow + hurricane prep. What a zoo! I don’t think their legendary logistics system was ready for the early reaction to Fay. It is good to see so many people taking this seriously, even if it turns out to be only a drill. A decent press will put it in those terms; our press will cast blame at the weather folks and make fun of the people who did the prep, making it less likely they’ll do it again when it will count. I hope we experience the former.

Thanks much to you all... Even after 10 years, I am still amazed at the quality of information (and opinion) that one can find on this forum.

This is the FIRST place I come for hurricane information.

Are you sure this isn’t going to be a category 10? They posted sheriff cars at the gas station at Walmart here. My wife had a heated argument with another driver (Senior of course)at the pump as too who was there first (She had to back the car in due to the cap being on the passengers side, as he came around from the other side.) All the Chef Boyardee cans were off the shelf, bottled water was gone except for the expensive stuff, no batteries, and the parking lot was jammed. I guess its going to be a real bad one, so I’ll take this moment to say good bye to all since from all appearances at Walmart, we’re all going to die. (sarc.)

Has the Lord High Poohbah of the Church of Global Warming been notified of the impending doom yet?

Have any of you seen this video? - of a guy kiteboarding in Ft. Lauderdale in Fay’s winds. He was slammed into the beach and then into a building - just crazy.

Well, the microwave view showed the spike after KW, but no. Looks like we're simply faced with my earlier graphic. (and that's certainly not a bad thing!) This one's been a deceptive cat.

microwawave, see the guts view

Yes, it's a cupcake.

Pics of Mom's mobile home park in Melbourne. She was lucky and is one of the few that is high and dry right now.

Happy to be leaving :)

And I've been saying I will not participate in this storm. Well I guess Fay didn't get the memo. It's been raining solid here and I'm just wishing this thing would move west already and take the rain with it.
