The knocked-out vehicles appear to be Georgian. I saw some bearing the distinctive Georgian script.

My question: are the tracked personnel carriers with the white spray paint on the sides the Chechens?

Yes, they say, “Chechyn Force” in Russian script.

I think the tanks with those peculiar tiles hanging off them are Russian. Like some cheap retro-fit.

Sobering images.

I pity the poor non-combatants caught up in this.

Hi! We’re Russia. We used to be the Soviet Union. We will be again. How you ask? Simple. We’ve learned through history that the collective developed world has a huge willingness to accept, what appears on the surface to be, isolated incrementalist encroachment and violation of minor states, rather than confront unpleasantness. (See Chamberlain)

It’s simple really, stir a false rebellion within the former soviet state, and then we roll tanks into to rescue the “persecuted” minority rebels. Once the smoke clears, we’re there, dug in, and everyone else can go f*** themselves.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Yeah, that’s BS. Folks didn’t ‘forget’ history, it just doesn’t get any easier to make the hard calls, and it’s so simple to fool yourself into thinking what’s happening, really isn’t. They should call it. Same s***, and hindsight 20/20’s a nasty bastard to have to live with.

That's reactive armor.

Those "peculiar tiles" are reactive armour.

Those look like what is left of a T-72 (they have been hammered badly and the pics aren’t very detailed) with reactive armour retrofits. The Georgian Army does field T-55 and T-72s. Based on that, I think that they are T-72s (the shape of the hull and turret are consistent with a T-72).

Yeah, they painted “Chechnya” a zillion times on some of those APCs. Like gang bangers with armour.

The pics are infuriating. I can’t stand to see the Russinas doing this . . . and with Chechens.

We would have a leg to stand on if we’d just admit we were wrong in Kosovo. We should stop this nonsense, pull our troops out of Kosovo and take care of Russia. Period.

The Vostok, or East Brigade, is who these tanks are operating with. They are a brigand composed of Chechen irregulars. Mercenaries basically. Imagine arming the Bloods and the Crips with heavy arms and giving them a name and sending them into Tijuana.

Russia’s violent, incestuous relationships with the Chechens is beyond rational comprehension. These are some of the most ruthless people in the world. They will happily kill Russians, Georgians, or anyone else who they are paid to.

After Beslan and the Moscow theater you would think they would learn their lesson.

There are two distinct photos that really p!ss me off.

They are of two lone Georgian Soldiers, each photographed separately, lying dead in the cold mud. If you look closely, you will see that they are wearing American K-Pots, Body Armor, LBVs and canteens. All of it is American issue, which tells me that they were trained and mentored by OUR Soldiers.

The Russians may as well be killing American Soldiers, because after viewing those two photos, I see two men who have the same ideology as I do. They wanted a free and democratic Nation that is allied with the USA, and the Russians are destroying them.

Prayers for the Georgian people.

I agree with you. Many pics on there provoked anger and disgust.
