Gain Detergent Ad Crosses Line?
Right Here | Today | Brainhose

Posted on 09/21/2008 6:35:39 AM PDT by Brainhose

Gain detergent decided that it would launch a "Hip/Funky" ad campaign.
The first commercial featured a couple where the Pregnant mother was addicted to huffing Gain detergent.
It showed a couple coming back from a false alarm at the maternity ward and the husband explaining that ever since his wife was pregnant, she was hooked on smelling detergent.
The actress portraying the preggo was huffing Gain detergent like someone inhaling Model Glue.

This ad was very sickening, and I've only seen it once, thank God.

Gain is marketed primarily to Hispanics because they prefer strong-smelling detergents.

That’s really funny. Huffing, I love the smell of my clothes that I hang outdoors to dry all year long, and choose my detergent according to scent. I’ve been smelling my detergents for years. Huffing? Only if you’ve been burned by the drug culture would you be offended by that ad. I’m sorry for your pain, it really wasn’t meant to be seen that way.

There are so many ads that are crossing the line.... There is a Levi ad that an adolescent male and female are suggestively taking their jeans off and they ultimately jump off a pier and into the water....it really is disgusting....

It takes a whole year for your clothes to dry? Where do you live; a rain forest?

Yeah...stripping in an ad is crossing the line...but sniffing laundry detergent? IT has a nice smell for a reason....but, I think I just figured this out....he’s upset the lady was pregnant which makes me laugh and want to say “GO TAKE IT DU”...my parents didn’t use car seats, smoked and drank and I came out fine. Wussying your kids only makes them have allergies, expect the best, become disrespectful....and on and on. Now THAT is sickening....this gives me the same feeling I get when I see a “baby on board’ sticker. I want to say SO WHAT and run them into a ditch....lol. Dumb liberals.

I'm not usually one of the easily offended but I thought this Comcast ad directed at college kids was pretty tasteless.

Instead of being an idiot why don't you think for one minute that they should make sure that the fumes aren't dangerous to the unborn.
I suppose if this had been an ad for Testors airplane glue that you'd probably have no problem with that either.
You can sniff that crap all day long as far as I care, I don't care what YOU do to yourself, I care what people do to the unborn.

Personally, I’m more offended by the way the little blue pill has stolen the song “Viva, Las Vegas”. Now, that’s disgusting.

But, I’m still seething from Midol being advertized on TV, so you see where I’m coming from.

Since huffing is not a term I would associate with myself I can clearly remember being pregant 40-50 years ago (yes I’m an antique)and loving the smell of dirt.......good old black dirt. I’m quite sure my neighbors wondered why the only time my flower garden looked really good was when I was pregnant.
And then there were those idaho bakers that still had a little dirt clinging to them.....yes I most likely looked really weird sniffing potatos at Krogers!
Ah....those were the days.........

So.... Worrying about unborn children makes me a liberal? Wow, you may want to tell that to Sarah Palin. I guess according to your paradigm, she’s a Liberal for not aborting her baby.

Yes, condemning an ad on Tv where a woman is sniffing the laundry detergent while pregnant, and getting so upset about it as to actually start a thread over it --is being a liberal. Sickening.

I don't care what YOU do to yourself, I care what people do to the unborn.

Worry about yourself. If I want to smoke or have a drink, and eat crap while pregnant-- that's MY business....Take it DU.
