I guess you missed the part where most Americans are against this bailout and wanted the bill to fail. Having the dems painting the republicans as the cause of the failure will only help, not hinder, the republicans in the elections. McCain should get a clue and start standing with the republicans who voted against this monstrosity of a bill.

You havent been listening to ordimnary common people calling into the radio etc...they see the GOP as heros and have NOT lost faith in the ability of our themselves and outr ocuntry to get through this and persevere.

At least until Thursday when I fear Grammy Stretch Pelosi will pop some valium (or be forcibly gagged) make everyone cookies and milk and change their votes...

but if we act now and urge our Congressman to support comprehensive economic reform

um, I think that's why they voted against this legislation..... this legislation is not "comprehensive reform". So passing this legislation instead fighting for "comprehensive reform" would have sealed their fate in November, with a scathing loss......

NO, the Conservatives in the House AVOIDED a poorly laid trap by Pelosi.

See here:

The debacle is all hers, and this pic is worth a thousand words.

We the people know the democraps caused this whole mess. dems made this rope. Let dems hang on it alone.

The republicans did the right thing. They voted down a mess that would have broken our backs.

Even if the R's had voted for this bill, the DEMS with trash-talk them - i.e., Pelosi's rant that couldn't even wait until AFTER the vote.

It matters not that the libs will try to frame and defame conservatives. It only matters that conservatives FRAME THE STORY to the American people. So far, McCain hasn't done a good job of that. And, Obama is out there writing the script.

Hell, Queen Nancy couldn’t even get all her little RAT buddies to vote for this travesty of a bill. Remember she can pass this WITHOUT any Republican votes.

They should have voted for socialism and a massive tax increase upon the American people to save RINO McCain's worthless hide? I don't how nationalizing our financial markets is worth winning an election. There's such a thing as keeping one's soul. As Thomas More retorted in Robert Bolt's play, A Man For All Seasons.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

Maybe. I would prefer them to go on an all out offensive. Find a camera stand in front of it and say that Pelosi, Osbama, and Reid will ruin this country with out of control liberalism. Cite example after example of how the DEMOCRATS are truly responsible for this bad economy. Everyday, every hour, every CAMERA. Start dominating the airways.

I think that due to this crisis and todays failed resuce, that people are beginning to "get it". I use MSNBC (yea, I know they are as blue as it gets) to see how the other side it seeing things. If you choose to join the "discussion" on their news sites, you are taken to the Newsvine website. People discussing the failed bailout are trashing the dems. Check it out: http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2008/09/29/1931003-bailout-failure-throws-banks-into-disarray

I think it is too early to call. The market was expecting one action, even though, before the vote the market was saying that it didn’t like it but were willing to live with it. After the vote, the market will have to change directions, that, will require a little readjustment, maybe alot.

95 Rats were told by their handlers to NOT vote for the bill...their leaders know its a lose/lose proposition to be on the side of that bill...they've heard from their constituents too....

now do we need a bill?....perhaps....I have no idea...

stop worrying about every single thing...sometimes you just have to do the RIGHT thing and let the chips fall where they may...

McCain needs to pound home the fact that all of this was caused by the RAts ....

NO! THE BILL WAS SO EGREGIOUS IT SHOULD HAVE GONE DOWN.

Now, the Republicans need to get a bill that doesn't give preference, feed the Dems. little community orgns. Actually, they should just let the market work. The reason people are changing their minds about the bill--more for it now, is the MSM'S LOUD CRY ALL DAY TODAY"the sky is falling! look out! the Dow fell more points than ever in its history.

ACTUALLY, AS N.CAVUTO POINTED TO ONE ALARMIST Reporterette, it was the most points, but as a % of the Dow, it did not even make the top ten.

They need to let the market alone. It will work itself out, just as it did at other times of crisis. They won't, so Republicans need to insist on writing the best bill to protect Main Street, then go out and claim they have done it.

The Republicans will probably have to write some sort of bill, and they will have to do it with Dems. Least thery can do is level with the people about the cause. And Boehner needs to remind the people the other bill, although better than the original was still a crap sandwich.

McCain may win. McCain may lose. That will be decided later.

The big lesson sinking in on Wall Street and in D.C. is that there is a certain percentage of free men and women in this country who are immune to extortion.
