McCain must take gloves off, do the media's job

Posted on 09/30/2008 8:16:11 AM PDT by Another Galt

Do you think that the McCain people are just holding off until right before the election? If he does not take off the gloves in a huge way he is going to lose this election, but I think that if he gets aggressive he can still win it. Remember the swing voters in VA, PA, OH are patriotic blue collar type people, not arugula-eating leftists.

There are many things on Obama, any one of which would sink the candidacy of any republican, that never make it beyond the blogs or talk radio or FoxNews. The only people who have the ability to get this information out there are the McCain people… so why the heck are they playing so nice?

I want to see ads brutally comparing William Ayers to Timothy McVeigh and Eric Robert Rudolph, showing how close Obama and Ayers really are. They should also show Obama’s curt dismissal of Ayer’s/Dorn’s murders/terrorism as something that ‘the guy did when I was 8 years old’. This ad would need to point out that Obama started his political career with a fundraiser at Ayer’s house! Clearly not just ‘some guy who lives in my neighborhood.’

I want to see ads that lay bare the media bias, juxtaposing the sneering attitudes of the media with McCain or Palin with the fan club like interviews of Obama – the ‘thrill running up’ Chris Matthews’ leg, etc. This would have to include pointing out how all three of the Big Talking Heads (Williams, Couric, whoever) traveled with Obama on his European tour.

I want to see ads showing video from the primaries of Hillary and Biden trashing Obama on lack of experience and naivete.

I want to see ads on every channel accusing Obama of violating the Logan Act when he tried to secretly cut a deal with Iraqi leaders to put off any deal on troop withdrawals until after the election (counter to his ‘get out now’ claims).

I want to see an ad showing video from Friday’s debate highlighting the well documented 7 positions about which Obama lied.

I want to see an ad pointing out how Obama chose to go work out in a gym rather than visit wounded soldiers once his request to take a camera crew along were denied. It seems his interest in the troops is related only to his campaign and we all know how that would play in PA and OH.

I want to see an ad showing how Obama got into the IL state senate simply by getting his opponents removed from the race by playing games with petition signatures.

I want to see an ad showing how Obama, contrary to his rhetoric, has never been about change or reform in his entire career, also noting that he comes from a hotbed of corruption that is arguably the most ideal place for reform in America.

I want to see an ad showing Obama’s ‘me-too bracelet moment’ from Friday’s debate, where he could not remember the name of the soldier about whom he allegedly cares, including the words from the soldier’s father explaining that he and his ex-wife (an Obama supporter) had both previously asked Obama to stop using their son’s name in the campaign.

I want to see ads, highlighting Obama’s public voting record, that clearly demonstrate that he is the most far-left candidate that we have seen run for president in a couple of generations (since McGovern?).

I want to see ads from the primaries where his diction was all proper and refined, then juxtaposed with his prose these days where he very intentionally drops the G’s from his words: thinkin’, talkin’, etc. He is playing to the people that he trashes (in private) as bitter people who cling to guns and god.

I want to see an ad that finally points out that the upper five percent of taxpayers includes a boatload of Chapter S corporations that are actually small businesses, and how his tax increases (on those evil ‘rich people’) will put low earners on the unemployment line when small businesses react to their increased tax burden.

I want to see ads showing that when he was called on his plan to raise the Capital Gains tax he admitted that even it if decreased revenues, it is about ‘tax fairness’. That is just Marxist talk.

I want to see ads pointing out how many times he voted “present” instead of making a stand while in the IL senate.

I want to see and ad showing him talking big about debating McCain “Any time, any place, any issue”, then pointing out that he ran away from McCain’s request for 10 town hall style debates. Those are the debates without a friendly press to help him out.

And perhaps most importantly, I want to see many ads highlighting how the American media has completely covered for Obama at every turn on every gaffe on every subject, refusing to report things that would sink any other candidate. This would have to include how the media covered up the Edwards affair, which many believe sank Hillary’s chances at the nomination.

This election is too big to risk losing it because of some misguided desire to stay on the high road…

Exactly. I see “Warner” took the video off of Youtube showing that the democrats were responsible for Freddie & Fannie, and the Republicans tried to fix this problem for years. If the Republicans put that ad on in every city, McCain would win in a landslide. I don't understand them being afraid to tell the truth. I'm a Christian, and challenging the media to speak & write the truth was what Jesus was all about. The media just wants to protect there “savior”. My Savior doesn't need to hide his character, He's perfect.

I’m about ready to fire off an email to the McCain campaign asking them to do the same thing. I didn’t give them my hard earned money for them to play patty-cake with this radical. I’m starting to get real ticked.

McCain: "Fix it now, fixing blame comes later."

Fixing blame should win the election if the information gets out. Not going to be easy with the Democrat press.

Please see my post above if it remains, about what prosecutors are taught in order to sway juries. You are right on, McCain allowed Obama to lie again and again. He can’t do that and win.

If the negatives are held back until the last minute before the election, they will not be very effective. People view last minute negative ads as a desperation move.

IMHO it’s probably already too late.

Agree, I also want to see the ad with the Congressional hearings that show Raines and Frank and the Dems saying nothing is wrong at Fannie Mae.

I can’t believe how passive they have been - I keep asking myself what they’re waiting for!? Obama’s playbook is to cry racism at every little jab, but too frikkin bad! It’s not as if more than a small percent of blacks overall will ever vote for McCain anyway, and his pals Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank are all knee-deep in this ACORN economic crisis - their names all need to be bunched together frequently.

McCain , by not responding looks guilty. It sounded like he cowered in a corner when he and Obama met with the leadership in Washington. Then he goes to the debate and after a ton of accusations from Obama,he says Bush should fire Chris Cox and he changes the subject to earmarks. That is like saying “You are right and I don't want to talk about it tonight”.

Why won't he tell people what happened? He is responding just like George Bush.

Same here- he needs to fight, to educate America about this financial mess ( 90% Democrat corruption, from what I see ) and to let Sarah, be Sarah.

Absolutely. It's time to name names, especially after Pelosi's tantrum and Fannie Frank's rantings.

I really think that if he spent a few million running my suggested ads in FL, OH, PA, and VA it could turn the race. Even my few liberal friends admit that the media is in the bag for Barry, if McCain does not do this then nobody will.

As an aside, I think that it is time to start a boycott of ABC, CBS, and NBC. They made the choice to toss aside any pretense of objectivity to get their messiah elected, we need to make them pay. Most of their shows are pathetic anyway...

Great post. If you don't mind, I'd like to print it out and bring it over to NH Republican headquarters. I cannot stand the thought of this campaign turning out like those of Bush Sr. and Bob Dole. Each just took hit after hit after hit and never responded. They decided to be gentlemen and got steamrolled.

You want to beat Obama? I'll tell you how to beat Obama: when he spreads a smear, you show him stuttering. When he tells a lie, you show him cozying up to American terrorists. When he promises only to tax "the rich", you tell people he would kill their jobs just to buy the votes of people who don't pay any taxes. Hit him every day with both barrels smoking and reloads at the ready. That's the Chicago Way.

I totally agree. I wish I could convince my husband to change to satelite. I think we could choose family and political friendly tv. Don’t know for sure.

Thank you - please spread this far and wide. This is all obvious stuff but I got so stressed out about how mad I am at Sen. McCain’s passivity and the media’s bias that it was almost therapeutic to write it!

We can still keep that poser out of office. Remember that some brave Vietnam vets (the swifties) likely kept Kerry out of office. All it takes is the willingness to take the gloves off.

Agree wholeheartedly, and I have been thinking the same thing (roughly - different ideas for commercials, but same gist). Also need to include the way the press messed with the Sarah interviews to make her sound like she didn’t know what she was talking about, and add soundbites of Uhhbama talking about “57 states”, telling his supporters to “get in their faces”, flubbing (repeatedly) his response to Russia invading Georgia.

Also, point out that his “95% of all Americans” receiving money from him on the backs of “millionaires” means that the 40% of people who don’t pay taxes get money anyway (college and high school students?), while mom’n’pop businesses will have to work from January 1-September ?? in order to pay for it, before they get a penny for their own households (his proposed 70% tax bracket).

Also point out that if the ordinary person holding a lottery ticket suddenly becomes a winner and wins a cool million, he or she will be required to give 700,000 dollars of it to Uhhbama to “redistribute”, while they would only get to keep 300,000. That is something that your average American can relate to, even the ones who don’t typically play the lottery. Also tie in how if they were to sell the house their houses that they’ve owned for many years and turn a good profit, 70% of that money would be taken by Uhhbama too. People can relate to the whole socialist wealth redistribution thing when they see how the wealth being redistributed could just as easily be coming from them instead of going to them.

If the country had any idea what this creep is really about and what he really wants to do, they’d run him back to Kenya on a rail. #@$$#%@^%^^ media.

I had a long discussion with one of the operatives down at RHQ. He suggested that I take it directly to the McCain campaign, which I will. Their state HQ is about 10 minutes from my house, and I’ll take your ideas directly to them. Many of us have been expressing the same frustrations about the tendency of Republicans to always keep their powder dry - even after the enemy has taken over the fortress. I’ll do my best to get the point across.

I want McCain to fight as hard as he fought in the military. Look at the election as if Obama is enemy!
Fight as he fought for his country. Simply, because hat is what he is doing. We need McCain to fight for us! No stone left unturned. I will be disappointed if he does not… I am giving him my loyalty just like he gave his loyalty to his country, and he better fight so my vote counts.

There is nothing like the light of day to make truth come out and shine and lies go back in the dark and hide.

Shine some light on Obama and the Dem lies. Truth and light always wins.
