I tend to think today is a bit of a bounce, catch your breath and consolidate day too.

If the market only corrects to historical average valuations, the bottom should be 8600. Anything lower is true contraction.

I think the natural point for the Dow and S&P is down another 12-15% (based on historical data).
Not saying it will drop to that today, but that should be the bottom. Anything below that should be a biy opportunity, in my not so business school educated opinion.

Who know, who cares, I’m down on paper over 80,000 dollars. Fortunately it is money I do not need. However, if it never comes back, it means all my work to supply a decent retirement will have been to benefit those with outrageous home mortgages, and others the government deems worthy of my and your best efforts. I can wait for my bailout.
PS, I”m not holding my breath.
Strange things happening, hope this isn’t a double post.

Things will bumble along until 2PM, when the results of the sales of Lehman Brothers’ CDS paper will be announced. If negative, the Dow will drop about 400 points on just that news alone.

The Dow goes down over about 2-3 hours and then goes back up to close up about 50 points. I think (hope and pray) we are finding the bottom.
