A number of them thanked the ants for warning people ahead of time that the quake was coming.

Must be all of the early risers, since the quake was at 641AM local time.

LOL. I’m only going by what the respondents said. Maybe “las hormigas rojas” (red ants) crept into their beds and bit them.
