Actually, all I ever wear is white. Sort of like in the movie “No Country for Old Men” (don’t you just love Coen movies) Llewelyn (pronounced Lew-Ellen) was told all they sold was white socks, he responded, “That’s all I ever wear”. White goes with anything, including bare legs with shorts. Also easy to match.

Sounds like you need to keep a stash for those occasions. A package of unopened ones in the back of the drawer.

Just make sure YOU keep those exercise routines going!

LOL! Let me say this...it's a good thing there was no pre-marriage contract about his hair migrating from his forehead to the middle of his back!

There is no vintage underwear of course, but it's not because the guy couldn't sell his underwear, it's because men wear their underwear until it absolutely disintegrates. Men hang on to underwear until, until each individual underwear molecule is so strained it can barely retain the properties of a solid. It actually becomes underwear vapor. We don't even throw it out, we just open a window and it goes out like dandelion spores. </seinfeld>

They really should put tread wear indicators on mens underwear. They never die it seems.

I buy new once a year at least. Not because the old ones are falling apart.

When I was a bachelor, when I would run out of socks, underwear and/or t-shirts before I did laundry, I would just buy another pack and make a mental note to do laundry at the next available opportunity. needless to say my wife was amazed at the sheer number of socks (120 pairs+/-) and skivvies I had when she moved in and started organizing.

Side note: my large quantities of t-shirts came from a friend who was a manager at a comic book store I could easily go a month or more with out doing a load of blacks/dark colors.

Before you think what a slothful individual, keep in mind I was working 2 jobs quite often seven days a week when I did get free time it was eat/sleep.

I then started to notice that t-shirts, or comfy socks or a particular pair of shorts would disappear from time to time and started to realize that someone was tossing them for too many holes and what not (NOOOO! they were my garage rags!!!!) So now she checks with me before tossing—socks with too many/too big holes get cut up for cleaning patches...:)

I’ve heard odes to dry socks from a guy who was in the military. I think having spares is part of basic training. Eighty pair may be an over reaction to that.

My sweetie has a pole barn out in the country that makes Ali Baba’s cave look like my kitchen junk drawer.

You just go ahead and laugh. Just wait until someone desperately needs a choke linkage for a ‘53 Studebaker and then we'll see who comes through!

We used to own a dog with an unnatural affinity for my underpants. It's not such a problem anymore.

I haven’t made it all the way through the thread yet,so I may be covering something someone else has already said, but if your DH is in the military, I can say with confidence that military guys tend to accumulate socks. Dry socks are a necessity to the soldier, so having many pairs around ensures that you’ll always have access to clean socks, so as to minimize the risk of trenchfoot or athlete’s foot. Granted, he’s in Iraq currently, but the maxim holds for regular footwear as well. I’ve gone through piles of socks myself, and have easily 30-40 pairs around, and I’ve been out of the Army now for over a decade.
