When the Obama people call my house and asks me if Ive decided on who Im voting for, I always tell them first that I havent made up my mind yet. This hooks them into a long discussion that I make sure is centered on the subjects I want to talk about.
Ive been able to keep them occupied for at least fifteen minutes and I believe that I really shook up the last one because her supervisor called me the next day to take notes.
The time on my part was well spent. It keeps them from calling someone else and it puts questions in their minds. I highly recommend it, just make sure to tell them up front that you havent made up your mind yet. Keep the complete conversation friendly. Its more effective.
Very good advice. I'll take it.
The supervisor called to takes notes to find a way to counter your argument if future callees voiced similiar concerns to Zero’s commie connection.
What a great idea.
That sounds like a good idea...and it is tempting to want to do it. However I am uncomfortable with even “little white lies”. How can I call Obama a liar, when I am doing it myself?
Well, in my case I haven’t made up my mind yet. I’m either voting for McCain because of Palin. Or I’m voting against Obama.
If you have DSL and can keep them on the line, you can wander over to this Obama Issues test and walk them through it. They may change their OWN vote! If you don’t have DSL, visit the site first, print out what the quiz says, and walk them through it on paper (I know, lotsa prep work, but it’s fun).
Just pick your favorite issue, find out what Obama says about it versus McCain, and ask them. If they find out what Obama says about it, theyre likely to get flustered.
Poll results: The American people and Barack Obama agree on nothing

Americans and Obama disagree not just some of the time, not just half of the time, butapparentlyall of the time.
Earlier today, I was exhorted to take the Barack Obama Test.
http://barackobamatest.com/
I was told that this test has enjoyed tremendous traffic, that it has gotten great response (as well as some hate response), and that it has changed many minds.
Excited to know these details, I went to take the test myself. I expected to find a series of question that one answers, followed by an effective statement regarding the degree to which Barack Obama dis/agrees with ones beliefs and positions.
The test and its results were all that, and not surprisingly, Obama and I are in accord exactly 0% of the time. Thats right, the potential next president of the United States and I disagree on 100% of the issues listed in this test, from taxes to energy, foreign policy to justice, social issues to the 2nd Amendment.
This is an effective tool on its own; when an independent voter finds out that s/he and Obama disagree 60, 70, 80, even 90% of the time, its going to give that voter pause.
But that is not the true brilliance of this test!
Below the place where it tells us the degree to which we do or do not agree with Obama is something I did not expect, something far more striking.
It lists all of the questions, this time showing Barack Obamas position in comparison to the preferences of the American people as a whole. Various different polls are used to show where the American people stand on each of these issues, and that is shown in comparison to where Barack Obama stands. And get this . . .
Out of the 48 questions, a majority or plurality of Americans disagree with Barack Obama on all 48!
In one spoton Obamas health care planif you separate out just the 30% of Americans who pay no taxes at all, just that cohort agrees with Obama . . . and even then, only by 1%, well inside the margin of error.
The profundity of this situation can hardly be overstated.
Americans are in such a foul moodexactly where the lefts eight-year-long permatantrum was designed to put themthat they are willing to elect a leader with whom they DISAGREE 100% of the time. They are convinced that change is what is needed, and since Barack Obama represents some form of change, many of them need look no further.
Maybe we need some change here and there. But picking someone with whom we, as a people in aggregate, disagree 100% of the time? That, it seems to me, occupies the misty twilight regions somewhere between ignorance and madness.
I don’t know how long I would be able to talk to them and not be laughing my ass off thinking about how much of their time I am wasting. But I glad you can do it. Keep up the good work!
Do you find that they are friendly back to you? We have gotten several Obama calls in the last few days. My older in-laws (who are also registered Repubs) get at least 3 calls per day. We have no idea why they are calling us. I have been hanging up immediately. But hey, if it keeps them from calling someone else, it may not be a bad idea.
rotfl, I love ya! I hope you get 100 more calls!
Ping to husband!!
Then don’t lie. Find something to say that the caller can interpret as either being good about 0 or at least being neutral. For example, “I’m really impressed with how he knocked Hilary out of the race” or something like that. Or, “he really has an interesting background” lol. You’re not lying, just being vague.
Just hope he doesn’t win, or your next call back will be from DOJ and the IRS.
Well Du'h. However the point remains is that to use the information the Obama phone jockeys will have to be retrained - uses time and resources.
Doesn’t he have some relationship with Rashid Khalidi too. Don’t forget him.
“I really shook up the last one because her supervisor called me the next day to take notes. “
Well you did it now. Expect for the FBI to knock at your door and your windows shot out.
