No offense...but I told my wife that if she had been a liberal when we met it wouldn never have gone past the first date. She was guilted into voting Kerry and Gore because of her liberal family but once she met me her eyes were opened and she has since become a card carrying Republican and our daughter is named Reagan....you tell me...is it worth living with someone who is so against everything you stand for?

Random Hero, a little anecdote: at the age of 14 I fell deeply in love with a guy a few years older than me in high school. He was a comic genius (later became professional), handsome, and Republican! I was political even back then, and he was active in Young Republican stuff; I was IN LOVE!!! Sadly, although we dated later and he tried his best to seduce me (unsuccessfully, I might add!), my feelings were never returned; he found me merely amusing. From a distance, I nursed a deep and abiding crush on this guy for the next 30-plus years, through boyfriends, jobs, growing up, hard knocks, and even on the fringes of my soul-mate marriage to a man I love extremely and deeply. Of course I would never give in to temptation, but had resigned myself to the fact that I would have a deep crush on the guy for life. About a year ago, I even searched him out on the internet to find out what he was doing, found some pics, and felt the old flutter in the heart! THEN guess what?

I discovered that in the last 25 years, he'd gone from being a Republican to being a screaming Liberal comic, the kind of guy who I'm surprised isn't on Air America (they missed out on snagging him, thank heaven!). And DO YOU KNOW WHAT? With that discovery, POOF! my crush of nearly four decades disappeared. Just like magic; my heart just wrote him off in about one tenth of a second. It was as stunning to me as it was a relief. I'm so grateful!
