Politics is "war by other means", and you're in a foxhole with an enemy.

Picture yourselves five, ten, twenty years out, and all the joint decisions that will have to be made, i.e. family, financial, geographical, career, children, home defense, etc.

Now picture Obama and his security force making all those decisions for you -- that's what you'll have. She'll bleed you to death, slowly, in ways you can't even now imagine.

Sure people change -- but neither you nor I have any control over those changes. The trick in love is to find someone you don't even want to change.

In my stupid younger days, I burned a very decent guy in a short, brutal first marriage learning the above -- I thought I could change him; worse, I thought I had the right to try to change him. Later, I realized how horribly rotten I'd been; how rightly outraged I'd have been if he'd married me with an aim to "changing" me! What arrogant presumption! So how was what I was doing any different? It wasn't. I did him wrong and regret it.

I finally got it right when I found a guy I didn't want to change. Twenty happy, loving, adventure-filled years later and looking forward to at least 20 more, I know I'm on to something good.
