I figure we have a window of about six months before we have to start worrying about gun bans, so I need some help.
I’m thinking the same thing, though I’ve got big hands, so I’d prefer a full-size .45 1911. I’m thinking optic-ready synthetic-stock 700, Remington 870, and basic 1911. That ought to cover my basic needs. As a second round, I’m thinking that M1 carbine and a 7.62x39mm rifle, maybe an sks, since they’re cheap and would be useful as a scavenge-fed backup.
If you didnt learn during the Clinton regime to get your guns you are a slow learner. Its ammunition, and ammo components you should be after now. I reckon I am good on all counts.
“I figure we have a window of about six months”
3 months. Congress in back and so is the new pres in January. Pelosi wants to meet back next week and start on getting bills rammed through for Obama to sign. You can bet your sweet ass that a firearms restriction will be in all that.
The 870 is a pump. They’re much more reliable. The semiautos are tricky, I think because the big recoil bangs things around, and shotgun shells are dirty compared to cartridges.
We have 2 Redhawks. 44 mag and 3, 12 ga. Tons of ammo for all. Wife and kids know how to use them. That pile of dog sh!t won’t get them without a fight. I might die, but 6 or more of them WILL go with us. That will do their kids a BIG favor.
The 870 is a pump. It has a long track record of reliability and performance. If you really want an autoloaded, the Remington 1100 is pretty good as well. I don’t feel like you’re really gaining much by going to an autoloader.
Acknowledged and understood, Sir.
A pump 870 shotgun can be modified with a pistol grip, an 18” barrel, and a magazine extension, whereas a semi-auto cannot, because it will be considered “assault” if it is semi-auto.
As for 7.62x39, if you have an abundance of that ammunition laying around I’d recommend an AK-47. The Romanian knockoffs are surprisingly cheap and still seem to shoot quite well. The SKS is a good choice as well, though I *think* 30 round magazines are more difficult to come by. In any case, you can get a good 7.62x39mm rifle for not as much as you might think ($500 or so).
you’d better buy the ammo to go with it! bambi said he can’t get rid of guns but he can tax the ammo so high no one can afford it!
He dies, no guns. No paper trail, or if so, to a dead guy.
Just an idea.
Anyways, seeing how crap comes in on bales, does anyone thing Hugo, or a Venezuelan Captain, who knows a Venezuelan Colonel who knows a guy... well, you can have as many AK’s for $250 as you want.
That’s why I picked that list. If I can’t get these in a package, and/or can’t barter or partially barter work for them, I’ll have to buy them one by one. I’m thinking from a practical standpoint the shotgun should be first, but conversely, the 1911 and the rifle may be harder to get, since shotguns are viewed by the ruling elite as not as “dangerous”.
Better be able to hide them where no metal detector will find them.
If you don’t already have firearms that are unregistered and untraceable to you, be sure and get a black powder handgun or two, along with all its compliments, while you still can. ...Never let the scum take away your responsibility to defend your family, especially from the thugs that will come with Obama’s fascist thugocracy.
why are you replying to me regarding the slide vrs. auto shotgun question?
I’m not. Only the first sentence was for you.
The shotgun reply was for the person asking about shotguns.
well than that reply goes to the poster asking/discussing that topic, that is how FR works.
IDC man, seriously...find something else to complain about, there’s plenty to chose from.

Basically anything outlined in Title XI, subtitle A, of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act is what you want to buy because if the Assault Weapon ban is reinstated permanently, you will never be able to buy new versions of these types of guns again.
