Give the GOP a year and try to get them to return to our conservative roots. If they don’t then there should be a mass exodus to either the Constitution or Libertarian parties. We all have to decide where we are going and all go to the same place.
I would say that the time is right for a whole new third party ... one that strongly advocates and defends CONSERVATIVE values ... and does NOT tolerate Rinos (McLame) faggots (Foley) or crooks (Stevens). AND NO MORE LIBERAL LITE
The GOP needs to reform right now. If not this country will go down. New agressive leadership needs to sell the party’s line. It will take young Newt’s and Haley’s to get this going to fight now. And start lining up candidates for 2010.
Since Nov 6, 2008
Yawn...
To see you feeding the trolls! LOL!
Ah well, I think we all knew when McCain was named the Republican nominee, it was probable we would have to repeat the horror of the Carter years, as if no lessons were ever learned.
Here we go again.
This is pointless. The base was intact and we were hammered. We lost the middle, end of story. We can run and hide in denial but in the end we need a message that can attract a broad coalition. The mere idea of splitting the party is ludicrous as we’ll never win another election in our life times. You would need the other side to splinter into multiple parties as well so that the 30% of the vote we could bring to the polls would be sufficient. They aren’t that stupid and we lose, again. Conservative values can sell and I do believe have as I think the county is very conservative in their personal lives but in the end you need a message that can sell to the middle. I don’t think this election is one you are forced to reinvent yourself over as we were very very unfortunate with respect to the current events. In other words, the deck was stacked against us.
McCain was a troll too. The whole damn 2008 election was one long, painful, troll thread. And McCain finally got zotted on Tuesday.
It will have to be a revived Republican Party because third parties are dead ends.
IB4TZ?
You can’t go any more to the middle than McCain and he was beaten. The hell with the middle...Republicans need to be almost exactly the opposite in every regaurd as the Democrats. They need to offer people a clear choice, not liberal light.
palin/nugent 2012
librals would bleed from there ears...
enough said!
Rush likes to trash the mushy middle, but they are the ones who win national elections. Most are moderately conservatives, but not always on the same issues. The key to the long term success of the post war Democratic party was do to the FDR coalition, Nixon’s silent majority was a coalition of lifelong Republicans and conservative Democrats as was the Reagan revolution. OBama won because he brought the middle to his side. We will not ever win another national election if we demand fealty to hard right conservative positions. That does not mean we shouldn’t run conservative candidates, but we must give the middle a reason to vote for us. I still think they want low taxes, reasonably small government, and a strong defense. We saw Gay marriage go down in of all places CA. When O’Reilly was on the View he mentioned personal responsibility and pegged Luntz’s meter with both D’s and R’s. But they also want reasonably priced health care, good schools, safe streets and plentiful and reasonably priced energy. All of these things can be achieved without large expansive and expensive government programs. We need people who can come up with the ideas and articulate them well(Newt comes to mind). Not any easy task, but doable. However, we can’t freeze people out because they don’t agree with us on one or two issues. As we saw Tuesday they will find a new home. Being a ideologue does you no good if you can’t get elected and can’t take over the reins of power. 80% of something is better than 0% of everything.
Third party
“The base” was not intact.
Did you type this “(This is pointless. The base was intact and we were hammered.)” with a straight face?
ROTFLMAO!
Conservative Party with a capital “C.” Perhaps we’ll endorse a republican or two.
Why wouldn't voters have picked the politician they felt was most honest in his stated positions?
Professional politicians lie all the time, it is an integral part of their “profession”.
As a Republican, I abhor professional politicians.
As we are already doomed to repeat history, the only solice I can take, is that perhaps the people who just recently became involved with politics, will stay involved, and soon come to understand that voting for “our elected leaders” requires a great deal of thought, as the consequences are much more pervasive than “voting” for the next American Idol.
