"Are you the only person at work who likes to read blogs? Is it your job to sell things to people who would probably throw you out of their offices if you said the word "twitter?" Are you trying to reach audiences who've never visited a social networking website because they've heard those sites are used by no one but virus peddlers, sex fiends and 14 year old losers?

Sometimes it feels like social media is just not relevant to the people you're trying to reach. That's a common dilemma, but we believe it doesn't have to be that way. In this post we discuss five strategies for using social media to reach people who don't use social media, and we've listed specific tools you can use to do it."

I started twittering 2 weeks ago. Up to 77 followers. I write about marketing and economics by the numbers, media matters and a fair dose of subtle Obama “watch.” Poke fun and put the numbers into the Twitterverse. A good conversation is evolving.

There is a group on FR using DIGG to push articles out. This is another way to get the grass roots effort going.

It’s not good enough to say “no one I know uses it”, “I’ve never heard of it” etc. Become involved in influencing the message others see on the internet.

Send me a private message if you’d like to try; and would like to link Twitter accounts.

I’ve been digging on “digg” (well, not so much since the election, but in the days just prior).. I was diggin’ blisters on my fingers *lol*

I’m not familiar with twitter, but I’m willing to jump in and learn to help get folks informed for 2010 and 2012.

Besides massive use of technology, these are steps the GOP needs to do.

The GOP needs to augment its 72-hour task force with larger scale pushes earlier on. Also, the GOP needs to do the 50-state strategy that Howard Dean and the Dems did. This can work especially for getting funding, electing conservative candidates locally, and getting a large army of volunteers and paid staff to swarm swing states during the months leading up to election day. Finally, the GOP needs to have a county-by-county strategy as well.
Build up the county parties, and make sure that there is a high tech victory center in all counties in potential swing states during a Presidential election year and even the congressional election years.
Considerable resources should also be put into recruitment on college campuses through the College Republicans and other aligned conservative groups. We need to groom the conservatives of tomorrow.
The technology needs to upgraded. Having different blogs accessible from the GOP website (later the candidate’s website) would be helpful
Finally, never take public funding during a Presidential general election.

Although getting everybody up to speed with the social media is definitely part of the answer, we're also dealing with a nation that unnecessarily fears its own federal government because of widespread ignorance of the power-limiting federal Constitution.

More specifically, the people no longer understand that the Founders made the federal Constitution to intentionally cripple the federal government. In other words, the federal government has only those powers expressly delegated to it by the Constitution, an idea actually written in the Constitution as evidenced by the following statutes.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 18: To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution (emphasis added) in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Indeed, the Constitution has been neglected for so long by big-shot federal spending lawmakers that if the people were to all of a sudden demand that DC politicians comply with the Constitution, the federal government would arguably be shut down.

I now think that G-d put constitutional flunky Socialist Obama in the Oval Office to force the people to reconnect with the Constitution in order to protect themselves from Obama's pen. In fact, instead of being scared of Obama's special-interest agenda, Obama would be a lame duck president before he takes the oath of office if the people would wise up and demand that the feds respect constitutional restraints on federal government powers as evidenced by the statutes listed above.

The bottom line is that misguided Socialist Obama misled a bunch of people by promising to do as president what the Constitution gives the feds no power to do in the first place.

using the social media is a great idea. I'm going to learn more about it, and get involved.

However, I want to urge people to also get involved in local politics. Who is your precinct committeeman? Do you even know? How is he/she on the issues? Can you influence him/her on selection of local candidates?

Is the position vacant? If so, get yourself appointed by the Party Chairman. If the position is filled, but by someone undesirable, run against them in the next primary (2009 will be a year for elections to party posts in most states). Find out now how to get on the ballot for the position. Get your petition signed and turned in during the appropriate period. Once on the Central Committee, help recruit good people for local and state office. these are the people who will move up later.
