When money is tight, everybody can go a little longer between haircuts. Lots of people will.
I dont know what its like in your part of the country but I do know a lot of local hairdressers. Once they develop their skills enough to stop hacking hair for chains and go rent a chair or open their own salons they tend to become disabused of many foolish notions they previously held. Many dont plan ahead for their quarterly taxes very well. There is something about a scramble “to come up with the money” every few months ending in writing a check to that guy they thought of as Uncle Sugar that tends to cause them to become fiscal conservatives rather quickly.
