“who would have ever thought 20 years ago “

David Cronenberg thought of it 9 years ago in the movie Existenz.

In the background plot, so many people play very real looking virtual games, that society itself is impacted (”What? Nobody actually goes skiing anymore..”).

The characters in the movie have played so many ultra-real games they can no longer tell when they are in “reality”.

Second Life is a timesucker, second only to World Of Warcraft, another game that has resulted in divorce and even assaults in meatworld encounters.

sounds like he was ahead of his time!
how long until games like this offer “cyber marriage counseling” for characters?
i thought there was a article recently too, where some one was suing for killing their on line character? how long until the real world has “cyber manslaughter?”...sounds ridiculous, but then so did some of this years ago lol.

Second Life is a timesucker

No kidding. I looked around a couple of times but decided not to become involved. In my field, there is actually a lot of activity in and research on activity in Second Life. It's supposed to be cool research to do, but I'm gonna stay uncool for this one.

'Meatworld'. LOL, that's a new one to me, but I'm not into WOW.

The characters in the movie have played so many ultra-real games they can no longer tell when they are in “reality”.

Red pill or blue pill?
