That’s a fine looking dog, and she looks fit! What do you feed her?

You would find it difficult or impossible to import that dog into New Zealand, because of the ban. Which is a shame, because it isn’t this kind of dog that causes the problems.

I’ll see if I can find a photo of a Pit Bull — the sort that cause the problems here. They are ugly mutts at the best of times.

Do you even know what breed of dog that is? Is it an Am Staff or is it an American Pit Bull Terrier? Based just upon the appearance of that dog, what do you consider her to be? You've repeatedly said you can tell the difference by just looking at them. I'd like an honest response.

I've seen experts unable to distinguish a APBT from a Boxer. I've seen news reports of 'pit bull attacks', but later it was determined that the dog was not, in fact, a 'pitbull'. "Dog Attacks Child" is not as sensational as "Pit Bull Attacks Child". Therein lies the problem with BSL. 'Pitbull' is NOT a breed. breed specific legislation cannot be soundly or even logically enforced with regards to 'pitbulls' as technically they don't exist. It is a term that encompasses many breeds and mixes; some so far away from the true American Pit Bull Terrier that the difference is like night and day.

Now, if one starts talking about banning potentially dangerous or vicious dogs, all breeds would have to be considered as all breeds have the potential to be vicious.

Breed specific legislation will not work. Short term? Maybe. Long term? Nope. Mark my words. You can ban 'pitbull' type dogs, but another breed will take its place.
