Mass murder was part of his plan from the beginning. That is, of course, why he waited till December 12, 1941 to order the extermination.

Note the date. He declared war on the US the day before. He was now in a total war against most of the world. Deportation was no longer an option.
I believe this theory has been in good standing for a long time. It’s not revisionist. The idea that Hitler intended from the beginning to kill every Jew requires believing he was willing to wait 8 years to put his dominant obsession into full effect. This is not logical.
Please note I’m no fan of Hitler, and I don’t believe he had any qualms at all about mass murder. But some of the things claimed about him just aren’t true.
For instance, he didn’t really want to conquer the entire world. He wanted Poland and western Russia, probably to the Urals. Had the western Allies been willing to give him this, he would have been glad to let them be. At least in the short run.
Even after his conquest of western Europe, he was anxious to reach a peace with Britain. There is some evidence that this is why the Brits were allowed to escape at Dunkirk.
The British Empire would rule the colored races overseas, and Germany would keep them down in Europe. Aryans of the world unite!
Of course it is "logical." Hitler believed he needed the cover of war, and the absolute powers which came with war, to protect the secrecy of his extermination plans.
Hitler certainly DID NOT FIRST ORDER exterminations on December 12, 1941 -- that is pure neo-Nazi propaganda. He began exterminations with the invasion of Poland in 1939, though at that time did not uniquely target Jews. He further ordered, long before the invasion of Soviet Russia in June 1941, that it would be a "war of destruction," targeting especially Communists and Jews.
By December 12, 1941 the Nazis has ALREADY murdered a million, and were beginning to realize that shootings were a waste of good ammunition, and also detrimental to their troops' morale. So they were looking for, and experimenting to find a "better way," a more secret, almost invisible way to dispose of millions more.
But, has NO ONE here noticed the most astonishing part of this 1938 news report?!

Now, what's so astonishing is that FOR YEARS I've read that NO ONE KNEW the Holocaust was coming. And yet HERE IT IS, spelled out in so many words, IN 1938!!
