SACRAMENTO, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A California man used a 2-foot decorative lawn candy cane to beat and subdue a neighbor who allegedly attacked guests with a knife, police say.
Sacramento, Calif., Police Department spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong said the candy cane-wielding man confronted neighbor Donald Kercell, 49, who had allegedly become intoxicated and was threatening people gathered on a lawn with a kitchen knife, The Sacramento Bee reported Saturday.
Leong said that when Kercell allegedly cut some of the guests' clothing, the man decided to fight back, grabbing the candy cane Christmas decoration from the lawn and beating him in self-defense. Other guests called police, and Kercell was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The candy cane man was not charged, the Bee reported. He was not named in the newspaper story.

I’ll bet neighborhood relations will never quite be the same after this.

“The Candy Man Can”. Presents quite a mental picture — sure to be copied in a Hollywood comedy soon (if they still make apolitical movies).

Reminds of a family story. My late uncle who was a WWII vet and his family were home one evening when a man tried to force himself inside the house through the back door of the house. With a lot of shouting and cursing, my uncle grabbed a can of tomatoes and beat the man senseless.

My sons have bought giant real candy canes for each other for Christmas. You could seriously injure someone with one of those too. Good going!

I hate it when my neighbor does this.

MY neighbor would have had several .45 cal holes in his chest.
Besides, caning is for vandalism in Singapore.
