If you were in California (LA county), Gil Garcetti would still have you paying support until the kid got out of college. They hose you on procedurals, and hook you for life, even if you never have been in Cali. Tough crap, somebody’s gotta pay.
That pretty much is how it started -— a subpoena to show cause why I had not paid child support.
I have a staff lawyer, so we got it lined out (there was never an “admission” of paternity and DNA was conclusive) . . . it came out ‘cause mama went to prison and the state started to look for “daddy” to pay the bill.
Mama also admitted her fraud, basically said I “looked nice and successful” so she listed me and had someone sign my name.
Anyway, she reminded me of this broad.
