Teach Your Son To Be A Man
The Art of Manliness ^ | 2 December 2008 | Sean Platt

Posted on 12/04/2008 8:14:55 AM PST by Davy Buck

"Whenever I’m watching a movie that hearkens back to a sepia tinted yesteryear, it isn’t the simpler times I long for so much as a return to the distant days when a man rose alongside the sunrise and was expected to give the daylight his best. Clothes were sharper, adolescence shorter, and the word man still deserving of the first spot in the word manners. Now it seems as if there is something *missing, something stripped from today’s men, besides their buttons and blazers . . ." ~ Sean Platt

Being a man can be challenging, but there are only a few simple rules that need to be followed, follow them, know them, and you’ll do just fine. If you ever get confused or dejected, refer to the following, it’ll clear it up.

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the scout law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.

Be Prepared.

Do a Good Turn Daily.

And when did I say that?

The double standard affects a lot more in life than simply ones sexual activity.

But glad to see where your mind is focused.

Why did you reply to post #3 if sex wasn’t what you were referring to? All she refers to is the mating dance.

No she refers to the double standard, not simply the mating rituals of the young and hormonally charged. Which like it or not was created by God, you don’t have to like it, but you can take it up with him.

Girls are not Boys and Boys are not Girls, to treat them as the same, in all manner of things is just plane silly and frankly stupid, advocating others to treat them as the same is just as silly and stupid.

Like it or not, girls are not the same as boys, and like it or not are far more succeptable to all sorts of problems that boys are not, particularly in the realm of sex and sexual activity. Anyone honest enough to look at the facts without the false filter of political correctness and feminist dogma can see those blatant facts as self evident. As any person who works in public health and they’ll tell you the honest truth that you seem to be so ready go jumping ugly over because you don’t like it.

Like I said, God made the double standard, not me, you can take it up with him if you don’t like it.

Roy Roger’s “Rider’s Rules”
1. Be neat and clean.
2. Be courteous and polite.
3. Always obey your parents.
4. Protect the weak and help them.
5. Be brave but never take chances.
6. Study hard and learn all you can.
7. Be kind to animals and care for them.
8. Eat all your food and never waste any.
9. Love God and go to Sunday School regularly.
10. Always respect our flag and our country.

These sound like the Boy Scout Law:

Trustworthy
Loyal (10)
Friendly (2)
Courteous (2)
Kind (7)
Obedient (3)
Cheerful
Thrifty (8)
Brave (5)
Clean (1)
Reverent (9)

I worked for Marine Colonel years ago whose son left home for college. I asked the Colonel what words of advice had given his son as he departed. He responded: “I told him NO earrings, NO tattoos AND NO BOYFRIENDS.”

Nuff said.

I don't understand it either but I'm a door-holder, too. lol

I can only guess that some women have been force-fed the feminist theory that all men are sexist pigs and are constantly on the lookout for ways to make them feel/appear inferior. I don't think they've figured out that you can be a strong woman (mentally, emotionally, and/or even physically) and still be a woman. You don't have to give up one to have the other.

Off-the-wall observation that will guarantee me the flaming of my life: I've also noticed that some men treat you altogether differently if you're in a dress and heels rather than casual clothes. I don't know if there's some connection in their brain that says, "Hey, she looks like a lady so I should probably treat her like one" or what. lol Maybe somewhere along the way we, as a gender in general, stopped looking and acting like ladies and so some men have responded by treating us like one of the guys?
