Oh well, thanks for your reply. I’m quite sure it was a fellow FReeper who first made me aware of the S12. :o)
Just for follow-up, there are several manufacturers coming up with their own versions of the Saiga 12 20-round drum magazines.
Cheapest I’ve found so far, and test-fired by fans of the Saiga 12 (www.forum.saiga-12.com), is $230 at:

Somebody called wraithemaker makes one at $371, yikes, sold elsewhere online.
