In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.
On ABCs This Week, host George Stephanopoulos asked: The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.
"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that? See Also

McCain replied: I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.

STFU is what I want from McStain.
I am having the same thoughts! His campaign was inept and like he didn’t want to win!
I can not stand that man. And that’s hard to say about a former POW.
and of course, our religious wacko wing put this man in office.
i mean made this man our nominee.
Scrooyu, John!
Take a hike, Quisling.
We had no good options in this election. Except Sarah Palin, that is. She was the only bright spot.
Ah, McCain is showing all the commitment to conservative principle and political savvy that got him as far as he did in his presidential campaign. </smirk>
What a piece of work. I guess he’s back to seeing the media as his base, as he did in 2000, and he wants to spend his waning years basking in the warmth of shared laughs and smiles with Letterman and Couric, and nice editorials in the Times. I have a better idea: retire to a nursing home. Plenty of hot cocoa there and nursey will be glad to read you all those fawning puff pieces from old times. Plus, you won’t be screwing us anymore.
The Gang of 14 leader strikes again.
If Jeff Flake runs for Senate, I'll be voting for him. I'm sick of the loose cannon McCain. Never thought I'd say it, but my tolerance for wacky Republicans is wearing thin. I voted against the grandstanding horse's ass Joe Arpaio for the first time ever this year, too.

THANK GOODNESS HE LOST!
Dear John, Please take your Aricept, Depends, and Metamucil and retire. The same Democrats you want to “work with” tried to cut your balls off and stuff them in your mouth. The fact that you don’t see this is proof that dementia or alzheimers is diminishing your capacity to think clearly. It is time for you to save what dignity you have and go away. Thank you.
Posted on another thread but useful for current discussion
History Lesson:
Sen. Peter Fitzgerald is a staunch CONSERVATIVE Republican that helped Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation to the senator) get his current assignment and wanted to clean up Illinois politics. After 9-11-01 Senator P. Fitzgerald also was the lone voice of conservative reason when he stood against Bushs first government bail-out of the airline industry, saying the airlines would never clean up their act and waste all the taxpayers money. His famous line was: The government bailed out the airlines but who will bail out the taxpayers?
Senator Patrick Fitzgerald served one 6 year term and didnt seek reelection. WHY? He was pressured not to run by key RINO leaders within the Illinois GOP that refused to support his reelection.
ENTER Barack Hussein Obama Jr. According to Wapedia In mid-2002, Obama began considering a run for the U.S. Senate, enlisting political strategist DAVID AXELROD that fall and formally announcing his candidacy in January 2003. Before deciding to run, OBAMA MET WITH JESSE JACKSON Jr., who was known to be considering a bid for the seat. He said, Jesse, if youre running for the U.S. Senate Im not going to run, Jackson said in recounting the conversation to The New York Times in 2008. Jackson told Obama he had already decided not to run.
Decisions by Republican incumbent Peter Fitzgerald and his Democratic predecessor Carol Moseley Braun not to contest the race launched wide-open Democratic and Republican primary contests involving fifteen candidates. Obamas candidacy was boosted by Axelrods advertising campaign featuring images of the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and an endorsement by the daughter of the late Paul Simon, former U.S. Senator for Illinois. He received over 52% of the vote in the March 2004 primary, emerging 29% ahead of his nearest Democratic rival.
Obamas expected opponent in the general election, Republican primary winner JACK RYAN (key RINO leaders choice) withdrew from the race in June 2004.
In August 2004, with less than three months to go before Election Day, Alan Keyes accepted the Illinois Republican Partys nomination to replace Ryan. A long-time resident of Maryland, Keyes established legal residency in Illinois with the nomination. Through three televised debates, Obama and Keyes expressed opposing views on stem cell research, abortion, gun control, school vouchers, and tax cuts. Obama was criticized by Keyes, as he had also been by rival pro-choice candidates in the Democratic primary, for a series of present votes on late-term abortion and parental notification issues. The charge that Obamas present votes suggested he was not firmly pro-choice was refuted by two lobbyists for pro-choice groups (including Planned Parenthood).
In the November 2004 general election, Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyess 27%, the largest victory margin for a statewide race in Illinois history.

Results: Obama wins Illinois senate seat that the GOP had just won six years earlier from Carol Moseley Braun. The Illinois GOP loses a conservative reformist voice. The national GOP loses an important senate seat to Dems. Obama uses senate to launch presidential bid. Obama runs against Gang of 14 leader John McCain. McCains greatest strength is that he almost became a Democrat. Obama wins White House in victory not seen since LBJ. In fact, Obama scores victories in many conservative areas running on the platform that the GOP and McCain are tax and spend liberalsand hes right RINOs are tax and spend liberals.
THANKS RINOs AND CINOs. As always you misunderstand what it means to be a conservative. You fail to support the cause in any way. Your grasp of how the electorate thinks is arrogant and self-serving. You stand in the way of meaningful government reform. And as always you pressure true conservatives to change or quit allowing socialism to advance.
Take a bow you incompetent baffoons.
I’m beginning to be glad that this backstabbing, “I-want-to-be-loved-again-by the MSM” SOB lost. Now, if he would only just go away.
You will NEVER be president, and that's probably a good thing.
You do NOT speak for us. Just as the Democrats have their Lieberman, so are we presently stuck with a RINO McCain yapping about.
What is amazing is that people already knew this about McCain BEFORE he was nominated, so I want to know, who is it that nominated him? It’s amazing that he got the nomination in the first place, especially since people already knew what he was about prior to. This is nothing new. Whoever nominated the guy should get whacked in the head, they were nuts!
I swear I will not vote for another politician because he is relatively less evil than his opponent. It is very difficult for me to determine which one, McCain or Obama, I find more offensive.
Evil is still evil....
