My cousin's husband just split after 22 years of marriage. He is buying a new place with the girlfriend just 2 months after leaving her. So I can only assume it was going on for quite a while.
My next door neighbor's husband was dating her best friend behind her back. She only found out when she found a love letter. He ended up marrying the best friend.
He was willing to hang around until all his plans were firmed up. Didn't have the courage to leave right away. Same with my cousin's husband. They don't want to miss a week of someone cooking their meals and washing their clothes.
I could go on and on.
And sorry about your wife. But good for you.
Those stories reminded me of another one. This guy tried to commit suicide (garage, car running, etc) but was not successful. Told the family he was devastated because he had lost all the family money (millions) gambling. The entire family gets behind him, and they start going to gamblers anonymous, counseling (the family, not him).
It turns out he doesn’t have a gambling problem in the traditional sense. He had a girlfriend. He gave the girlfriend the money to hold until he went through a divorce. The girlfriend took off and married someone else. Nice guy.
I never understood this whole ditch the spouse thing... and in my case, it was that I chose badly. The ex made a great girlfriend, and a lousy wife. The reverse is also true, guys who make great boyfriends usually make lousy husbands.
I’d almost be willing to bet that the woman in this story has an ex who was a lousy husband, probably a hound-dog type, married young and now is trying to recapture what she views as a lost youth.
As an older man who found himself single not by choice, the pool of available candidates expanded considerably from when I was in my 20’s. At 38, +10 to -20 broadened the pool significantly. At age 25 it’s +7 to -7. Obviously, the top and the bottom are not always attainable, but the outliers are part of the pool.
Now for a woman, I would imagine that the pool is significantly, smaller. + 15 to -5 (?) would narrow things to a point that would make it more difficult to re-live missed opportunities.
But a 13 year old? For a man, it would make him a pedophile, and for this....woman? Why is she not a pedophile? I think that this incident swerves, into that field of buckwheat.
