LOL! Was that “Torment” bit a typo?
Ok just a couple of minutes im still in my jammies I love a parade
OoooOoo
skytypers and asimo
Rase Parade? Bring on the game! I wanna see if Joe Pa’s boys can whip the University of Spoiled Children!
Argggh....I'll stick with HGTV and Jan Karl; that gal never ages a day - remains highly hittable.
Watching this on HDTV sure beats being there. As a kid I spent 3 or 4 miserable New Year's Eves on a cold curb, or in a quarter mile long line to take a leak.
Shocking!
Thank you for the heads up a couple of hours ago about the “Torment” of Roses. I manage to miss it almost every year because I forget about it.
I will never forget many years ago I was watching it with my Dad. A float went up in flames. I believe it was the Pancake House float. Can anybody help me here if it was the Pancake House of some other fast food establishment’s float?
Thank you.
Here it is I finally found it:
Rose Parade float builder Bill Lofthouse dies; he pushed petals on wheels to new frontiers
His Phoenix Decorating Co. broadened the concept of parade floats by emphasizing animation and going beyond mere flowers into items such as sesame seeds and beans. He was 68.

During the 1983 parade, his float for the International House of Pancakes caught fire when the hair made of pampas grass of a giant sculpted dog found its way into the engines manifold. Flames and smoke shot skyward as the dog was consumed. Horrified TV announcers speculated about whether the driver would escape. (He did.)

Stephanie Edwards is back in the booth!!!I hope they had to pay her a pretty penny to come back. I remember a couple of years ago when they brought some new chick in and stuck Stephanie out in the rain. That was so disrespectful.
It just ain't the Tournament of Roses Parade without Bob and Stephanie. Tradition must be upheld. :)
