FREEPERS! Thank you for the suggestions! We just sat down at La Posta de Mesilla in old town historic Mesilla. GREAT salsa and we just got our beer! Thanks again!

About ten years ago I ate at La Posta. It’s good food. The funny thing is the waitress seemed concerned I couldn’t handle the “heat” like the locals could and recommended a milder meal than I ordered. When I ate it didn’t seem that hot and when I told a cousin later that day (that lived in Las Cruces) she figured they had given me the mild meal anyway. A few days later I had another cousin in Hatch prepare the local style of enchilada and it didn’t seem that bad, either. New Mexican cuisine has the reputation for being much hotter than Tex-Mex, but if the seeds are removed it isn’t that bad.
