Is there any precedent? Any other family members/relatives living there on a permenent basis?
Truman’s MIL lived in the WH.
I don’t really see any problem with this. With two minor children, it probably isn’t a bad idea for his mother in law to accompany the kids. Michelle will have some responsibilities as first lady that will leave the kiddos unattended.

Yeah, taxpayers should pay for them to hire a stranger to help take care of the kids instead of letting a family member do it for no salary. /s
Given that the girls are relatively young, this doesn't bother me in the slightest. Without grandma, I'd think a nanny would probably be necessary given the meetings, luncheons and dinners and traveling the Obamas will do.

Another first? lol. Actually I don’t really care about this. I would have been just as ok if Mrs. Bush’s Mom had moved in. If this is the worst that Obama will do, we will have dodge many bullets.....Unfortunately, I know there will be many worse things to come.
