Throw some cooked hamburger in that recipe and you have Cheeseburg Chowder!
It’s never been a problem, but thanks for the heads up. :)
Thank you! fever up to 101 last night, still can’t use r arm, doesn’t seen like flu, taking nasty herbs...
Try googling the symptoms to see if it’s anything else. Seems to me that there’s some other pretty nasty things that can come with those symptoms.
Be careful....
You may want to amend the title to include Heterosexual Spaghetti Sauce. Campbell’s owns Prego, which I believe is the best-selling spaghetti sauce.
Thanks,jj. : )
Gonna give the dehydrated veggies a try too.
I was trying not to do that, but you are right, I should.
Hmmm...never thought of that! I suppose I could try that. Thanks for the tip!!
Looks almost exactly like the “Stuart Anderson/Black Angus Baked Potato Soup” recipe. ;-)
I’m getting ready to cook up a batch myself.
We have a few Black Angus’ in our area, but I haven’t been to one in over 5 years. Had a bad experience. And I didn’t even know they made a baked potato soup.
I was kinda hopin’ you’d shake loose some more recipes... [stomach growling]
I can come up with Beef Barley. I was hoping for more myself.
I know Hungarian Gypsy runs a food ping list.
I’m not sure who else to ask. I pinged a few at the beginning of the thread who might be interested, so don’t see the need to ping again.
Maybe some better keywords?
The beef barely (or oxtail) soup is....
2 quarts beef broth
1/2 C or so of barley
meat
onions
celery
carrots
potatoes or turnips
parsley
salt to taste
Cook the barely in the beef broth for about 45 mins. Check for doneness, that barley is cooked. Add the cut up meat.
Add diced up celery, onions, carrots, and turnips or potatoes.
Boil until veggies are tender.
Note: Turnips work well in place of potatoes in this recipe. They don’t get mushy or mealy from being cooked and don’t have an overpowering flavor.
The barley tends to thicken the broth some, giving it a hearty texture, a little more like a stew.
I used turnips in this soup for several batches before mr. mm realized that they weren’t potatoes. He only found out because once I couldn’t get the potatoes and has to use them. He actually preferred how the turnips worked in the soup better than the potatoes.
He only found out because once I couldnt get the potatoes turnips and has to use potatoes instead.
SOUP BUMP!
Diana’s Wedding Soup
(This soup is similar to Italian Wedding Soup, but with a few different ingredients.)
8 cups veggie or chicken broth
About 3/4 cup SMALL dry pasta of your choice
Bring the broth to a boil and add the pasta. Cook for 8-10 minutes or so until al dente. (This depends upon which pasta you use; check the package directions.)
Halfway through, add one grated carrot
While this finishes cooking, chop up two cups of spinach leaves, removing stems. Drain and rinse a can of Canelli beans (Great Northern, Garbanzo, any white bean you like.)
Add the spinach and beans to the soup, add some minced garlic to taste (1 tsp. or so), reduce heat and heat through.
Salt & Pepper to taste. Serve with grated hard cheese (asiago, romano, parmesan, etc.) and crusty bread.
Magnifico! :)
This is my family’s favorite soup, hands down!
Lisa’s Famous Potato Soup Recipe
8 c. coarsely chopped peeled potatoes
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 lb. bacon, crisped, drained, and crumbled
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
3 14.5 can chicken broth (or homemade)
1 10.75 oz. can cream of chicken soup
1/4 tsp pepper
In a crock pot, stir together the potatoes and onion. Add bacon. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and the pepper. Add the mixture to the crock. Cover and cook the soup on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high heat for 4-5 hours. If you like, mash the potatoes slightly for at thicker consistency before serving.
I like your way of thinking. Besides, it makes no sense to waste money buying an inferior product and canned soup is inferior to homemade almost every time.
Yep, my lady has a high blood pressure problem, and the only way to get truly low sodium soup is to make it yourself!
Campbell’s also owns Prego — my favorite pasta sauce and also, I believe, the best-selling sauce in the country. I plan to boycott Campbell’s — we need to post good spaghetti sauce recipes also.
