I don’t really have a problem with Run-DMC or Metallica being inducted. I do think it sounds like possibly a muy boring ceremony. Who else was eligible this year? There has to be a band that’s still fighting over money or hates each others’ guts.

Now see? New Edition would require the presence of Bobby Brown. That’s that kind of train wreck I’m talking about.

Jeff Beck is the only one on the list I really like.
Run DMC was fun but where are they now?

The rock and roll hall of fame has a lot of interesting people inducted. When I was there they had a huge woody guthrie display.

Woody was hardly a rocker and was quite Commie, but the exhibit was fascinating. All of his instruments had been carved with various slogans like “This Machine Kill’s Fascism” I looked at all this stuff in amazement thinking back to how innocent we were when we sang “This land is your land” in school and how now it all sounded different to me knowing this man’s heart.

Anyhow, the R+R hall of fame is a fascinating place.
Reading letters from Jim Morrison to his parents he said “Buy me (something)or i will kill you!”

Janice Joplins porsche was very cool. hand painted by big brother and the holding company.

huh. If I ever have the chance, I’ll definitely go to the museum. Not sure how Woody could claim his music kills fascism when commie ideals aren’t exactly better, but I agree it’s interesting. :)

It’s fascinating.

Woody was a great song writer and a mental dolt.

Be sure to go to Panini’s if you visit Cleveland

Damn near pornographic isnt it?

As I said, I would recommend the R@R hall over fame to anyone even if you think some of the inductees are a bit odd.

You will enjoy it

I guess its just me. L0L

It was a song about Guthries obsession with Ingrid Bergman.

It's a beautiful song, but who the hell would write such a thing for Public consumption?

I dunno, it was very daring and very personal and well composed, though not intellectually thought out.

The whole thing is based on hormones, So I guess it qualifys as rock.

Nevermind. ☺

“This land is your land” was written as a response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America". And Pete Seeger added even more antiamericanism to "This Land...". He also gruffed when (as a card carryign Communist) he was kept off a children's show in the 1950s. He does not deny his politics (and he was a die hard Stalinist in those days, took him 40 years to concede that Stalin did some very evil things) but he thinks he should have had access to kids to poison their minds and indoctrinate them.

How many rock bands are in the Rap Hall of Fame?

Clearly Aerosmith (Walk This Way), Queen (Ice Ice Baby), Van Halen (Ton Loc's Wild Thing) all belong in there as "early influences".

And Blondie rapped (Rapture) on one of her albums in the 1970s (she was friends with Fab Five Freddy).

Want to really get them upset? Put in country artists in the rap hall of fame. Whether it's Johnny Cash for songs like I've Been Everywhere, One Piece At A Time, A Boy Name Sue (spoken word over rhythm) or Tex Williams for Smoke That Cigarette, or Jimmie Dolan with Hot Rod Race (1950).
