One of the most vicious collisions youll ever see, posted here because I know most of you watched the game and are wondering how hes doing. Miraculously, despite significant neck pain, hes neurogically intact with movement in all his limbs. No diagnosis yet but presumably its whiplash and/or a concussion.
So brutal was this that, after watching the replay, I was hoping he was merely paralyzed and not actually dead on the field. Click the image to watch.

It’s just God at his best and Troy thanks God all the time and so do us Steeler fans...I am just enjoying the ride!!!!
I think so, but I can’t really remember - too many head on hits in HS football.
Actually, the loss of certain types of memory is often normal and age-related. We seniors (55+) make up for it with superior wisdom and experience.
...in fact McGahee lowered his head at the time of the hit...
Yup - that’s the way I saw it. Unfortunate - but his positioning probably had as much to do with his injuries as anything.
There’s the rub. Footballers especially get knocked out routinely. I recall an article about high-school footballers suffering measurable impairment after suffering several concussions on the field. Never mind boxers. Far too many of them die drooling in middle-age. The “punch-drunk” phenomenon might as well be early Alzeheimer’s as far as the symptoms are concerned.
In any case, what is all the gold in Fort Knox worth to a man when he can’t keep his thoughts together. Or string a sentence?
I’m sorry if you took my comment to mean that Palomalu or any other steeler are on any drugs. I just meant to convey that their level of intensity and explosiveness (esp on the defense) just makes me think of some kind of tasmanian devils on crack. For them to be so intuitive about where the ball and the play will be is more than enough proof that they also have a supreme level of clear headedness at the same time.
Playoff games are super intense and often better than just about any other game of the Season and the Super Bowl Game....my Humble Opinion.
I think the term for punch drunk boxers is “dementia pugilistica”. It is not a progressive disease like Alzheimer’s, but the more you get hit (football included) the more additive the cognitive effects.
Steve Young and Merril Hoge were smart to quit “early” and not just because they could make a living as commentators.
Didn't think that Travis! Just commenting on your comment - making conversation.
That said, the Palomalu/Fitzgerald battle should be at least as exciting as that between the quarterbacks. I think it will be a good game....and I usually don't get excited about matchups between teams I haven't rooted for all season.
I totally agree with that!
I didn’t pay a bit of attention to the Cardinals all season until last week. Wow! I’m going to be glued!
Yes, he took a hit on a corner blitz by pro-bowl cornerback Aeneas Williams.
The had a bounty on Hines Ward. They took him out of the game also.
