Prayer Request (for our dog Copper)

Posted on 01/31/2009 5:47:18 AM PST by God luvs America

Our 14 and a half year old pomeranian Copper died just about an hour ago- our house is filled with sadness.

My wife bough Copper from a breeder when she was six weeks old. I arrived two years later almost to the day. If God was ever to create the perfect little dog- it would be Copper- this little seven pound dog was filled with more love than anything anyone could ever imagined....as I type this tears are streaming down my face- my wife and I can't bare to look at each other as we break out crying....

My deepest sympathies are with you in your loss.

My doggie, Lola, is now 13. In the last year I have noticed she has gotten older, so our walks take much longer now. She has some arthritis and while she gets supplements and some meds, she also gets nightly massages from me. And once a week a massage therapist gives her a half hour professional massage. If she needs to go out at 2am, of course, I throw some clothes on and take her out back and wait for her.

It has occurred to me lately, that while she is not the running , active pupster she once was I love her more and more each day. I have been surprised at how that love has grown. These puspters go through everything with us on our journey together.

I believe that when the time comes she will go to wherever heaven is. The comforting thing is I don’t have to understand how. We have a spiritual, loving connection with these pets that does not end when they “die”, just like our connection and love with our loved ones doesn’t “end” when they go to heaven.

I can’t describe in words what that special love is.The closest example I have thought of is that moment, that feeling when we are waiting for a loved one to arrive to visit us when they come by plane. There I stand, at the gate, or the waiting area and see all those people come off the flight. Suddenly in all those strange faces, I see the one I am waiting for. It is that special connection, that love that is indescribeable in words. I believe that is how it will be when we are together again.

Please know that you have done everything you could have and gave Copper a WONDERFUL life of care , protection and love. You know it goes both ways.

May you and your family have the peace that passes all understanding.

she was always happy, had the greatest little personality and was always smiling...she knew how to get you up when you were feeling blue

The amazing thing is that she gave you all this for 14 years! I lost my last bed buddy when he was 9. It doesn't help your loss, but you are so blessed to have had her this long. And if she was always happy, then that says a lot about you too. She had a good life here, and certainly made yours better.

A big hug from my varmints and me to your house.

After reading another post I just installed the search engine dogpile on my computer.

I have been using dogpile a while now since google is so far left.

I am very sorry for your loss.

You loved her and she loved you in return. It’s always so sad that we out last them.

Prayers up.

There are no words that I can say to fix the Copper-shaped holes in the hearts of your family, but I do earnestly pray that God will comfort you so that the pain melts into the good memories, after all there were so many of them.

I tried several times to visit this thread and leave you a thought, but the sobbing begins almost immediately and I have had to leave.

You and your wife know that Copper had the best life with you and because of you. That little furry child loved you unconditionally and you always took care and looked after Copper because she was family. Thank God that your family and friends realized Copper's place in your home and heart and are offering love and support.

People like us, and there are many on this thread, live with the knowledge that we will be reunited with our pets when we are brought Home the final day. It is that knowledge that dries my tears, repeatedly some days. Constantly today.

My Junior a/k/a June Bug succumbed to cancer on Mothers' Day in '08. I sit near his grave and talk to him regularly. Miss Penny is in an urn on the mantle of our fireplace. I occasionally set her on the hearth because that was her favorite place to lie in front of the fire. How do we go on? We have to because they are watching over us still ... waiting for us to join them.

Bama is my 13-year-old American Bulldog and she is probably living her last year (says the vet anyway). She gets to do exactly whatever she wants to do every day for the remainder of her time. She's earned it by sticking with me through some very difficult years. But I have many other furry children that are young and prepared to be my companions for many years to come.

Please let me know if there is absolutely anything that I can do for you in your time of need. I am here and I understand.

God send peace to you and your family.

Copper just had to go be sure that your place in Heaven was ready for when you get there. :)

Just remember that a thousand years is but a day with the Lord, so technically you will only have been apart a few ‘seconds’.
