I was raised in Clear Lake. The night they died my parents woke me up and we stayed at the house of the aircraft owner.
My dad and the owner (Jerry) searched nearly all night. It was terrible. I remember the tears and fears. I was only 6 yet it left an incredible memory. None of us slept. The pilot was like a family member and of course the worry over what had happened to the plane and if anyone was hurt or needed help.
I remember my dad with tears in his eyes knowing the search would have to wait a couple hours until daylight.
It has been announced that Jerry is going to write a book. I’m glad as there is much to be said about the pilot and the family owned business, that night, and the subsequent happenings.
This is always a sad day for me - but in a very personal way
