Gorgeous, and that is the red heads tongue the flicker has!! Never saw a flicker,would love to.

I’m pretty lucky to have several species of woodpeckers (including these) in the area. My favorite is the Pileated woodpecker.

I have them in my yard a lot. The funny thing is they bang away at the metal roof and drains on my garage almost as much as on the trees. I guess they must like the sound.

Flickers share my back yard. They have lived there for years and years. Some how they co exist with robins and probe the exact same ground for eats.

We have no Red Heads but do have the spectacular Red Breasted variety.

We also have yellow breasted sapsuckers who have lived in the Virburnum bush for so long I don’t even remember.
