No, Fox News's Bill O'Reilly doesn't have a secret Valentine's Day crush on the dean of the White House Press Corps. It's an apology bouquet, of sorts.

O'Reilly called Thomas, the "wicked witch of the east" earlier this week on his show. SoupCans talked with Thomas who got the flowers today. Her only response: "I'd like to thank Bill O'Reilly for the flowers."

Way to take the high road Helen. Will you be our Valentine?

O’Reilly has repeated over and over and over that he is an Independent...I think that disallows him being a RINO.

Good grief...he just said her voice sounded like a witch's, he did not insult her looks or intelligence. I would say that Helen just needs to grow some skin so she can let these kind of things roll off her back, but she has too much skin hanging loose on her now ; )

I'm pretty sure that her species already has a pretty thick skin. The closest living comparison would be an elephant skin which is nearly an inch in thickness. When she finally passes and they carbon-date her, I hope they are able to pin down what she was. Too bad Michael Crichton is gone- her autopsy results would likely provide the basis for another fascinating book.

I realize all the grief I will get for saying this, but I think Bill O’reilly is taking the “high road”. He said it, it was mean, and so he is apologizing. The fact is she would probably would say something just as bad or worse, shouldn't be seen as that it's ok to lower yourself to her level. I think he was right to apologize.

P.S. I not saying anyone can't speak their minds, just make sure to keep the number of the florist handy.

BOR also took the Jane Fonda Women’s News Groopie to the woodshed for protesting his joke about Helen Thomas and sitting silent while Palin was thoroughly trashed by everyone from Letterman to Tina Fey and in between. The woman tried to say they had defended Palin.. well, he checked... they didn’t! and he said so last night on the air.
