Did President Bush ever leave town to sign a bill?

Did President Bush ever leave town to sign a bill? Maybe he did, I can't remember. Any other presidents doing this come to mind? The expense of this flying around and security is enormous. I don't get the purpose and why Denver again?

Slick Willy CLINTON did ... when he took over the land for a park... land that was above the largest vein of the Cleanest COAL on the face of the EARTH... the only other one was owned by an INDONESIAN DONOR.

Maybe FUHRER Obama should sign that bill in Las Vegas... in Colorado makes it seem more like Stephen King’s “THE STAND”

“Do you wish this president would take a long walk off a short pier?...”

Ummmmm.......no. I was thinking more on the lines of a short walk off the end of the gangplank in the middle of the Pacific....on his way back to his homeland in Kenya.

The man is a maniac. He can’t survive for a few days without being in front of some crowd that is drooling all over themselves.

You are right. From a picture I found on the web:

Congressman George Miller, left, watches as President Bush signs the historic No Child Left Behind education bill into law. As one of the four co-authors of the bill, Miller was invited by President Bush to join him for the signing ceremony in Hamilton, Ohio on January 8, 2002. With him are Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), Education Secretary Rod Paige, and Representative John Boehner (R-OH), chairman of the Education committee. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), the four co-author is standing behind Chairman Boehner. More than three years since the bill was passed, Miller said he remains proud of the law but is greatly disappointed by the failure of the President and Republican leaders in Congress to adequately fund it and propoerly implement it.

In the corporate world I noticed some so-called managers were in a state of almost perpetual motion flying all over the place. This made it hard to pin them down for anything serious so important stuff was often inadequately addressed but the fluff got their attention.

Being fair, there were those who did a fine job even if always on the move but the former category was the more common in my experience.

You raise a good question. I too took notice of his leaving to sign Porkulus. I am not sure about ‘ever’ but I have not noticed this being done a great deal by past presidents. I understand why it is being done and that is simply that Obama is still running for office. Believe it or not, he is campaigning for 2012. This is what it is all about for him. He is no leader, so this is what you are going to see from him; a perpetual campaign.

I would like to add, I was not trying to imply that President Bush was some great guy fiscally, just seriously trying to figure out if this was a common thing among presidents now. I don’t like waste in anything. It drives me bonkers. So if BHO can manage to hang on for 4 years, I’m going to go absolutely loopy.

Yes. He signed bills in a number of different cities. I can clearly remember Cincinnati being one of them. I’m not sure with what President this started.

I think you are correct. He might also have some Bill Clinton in him and needs the reassurance that he is still idolized by the masses.

I’m not sure about that, but he flew in here twice, for multi-millinon dollar photo ops, one to announce he was putting the Guard on the border, and eleven months later to beat his chest, and announce he had fixed the border, now give him what he wanted, amnesty, in his words”comprehensive immigration reform.”
