Need help with an undecipherable message from George Strait Fan Club

Posted on 02/20/2009 12:48:35 PM PST by rudy45

I received this e-mail, which has instructions on how George Strait fan club members can purchase tickets for the Cowboy Stadium June 6 concert ahead of the public. Problem is, the e-mail is undecipherable. Why do we apparently have two different user names and two different passwords? How does the George Strait web site sign on relate to any Ticketmaster sign on we might need to create? Or do we need to create a Ticketmaster account? thanks. See below:

To purchase tickets for the shows listed below you will be required to enter your George Strait Fan Club username and password which can be found below.

Your GS Fan Club username allows you access to presale tickets. PLEASE NOTE: Your username is derived from your georgestrait.com fan club username. It is case sensitive and has had all non-alpha/numeric characters removed. For example, if your fan club Username is DinaGSFan@yahoo.com, then your username will be DinaGSFanyahoocom - using (dinaGSFanyahoocom, dinagsfanyahoocom or any other derivative will not work).

Your GS Fan Club password allows you access to purchase tickets. PLEASE NOTE: Your password is derived from your georgestrait.com fan club password. It is case sensitive and has had all non-alpha/numeric characters removed. For example, if your GeorgeStrait.com fan club Password is M@keup, then the password will be Mkeup (mkeup, Makeup or any other derivative will not work).

I don’t see what is undecipherable. Basically you don’t want anything that isn’t a letter or number and you must keep it case sensitive.

not a scam at all... Well, maybe the Cowboys and the stadium are a scam lol, but the King is definitely to play there at their opening event, on June 6.

Sounds like one, but it’s not my password, account or money. I could be wrong. Have fun though! :-)

Basically, it sounds like they’re doing this pre-sale the smart way. One of the problems that these online pre-sales used to see quite often was that they’d pick some basic password and distribute it to all members of the club. Well, these passwords would leak out onto the net, and thus everyone could access the pre-sale, not just the club members.

What they’re saying here is that when you go to buy the ticket you’ll need to have your fan club username and password handy. This makes sure that outsiders aren’t buying the tickets. If your username or password contains non-alphanumeric elements (in other words, symbols like @, !, etc.), then you need to remove those and type the username or password exactly like it would appear if that element never existed (in other words, don’t leave a space when you remove the offending symbol). For example, if your password is Obamaisan@ss, then you enter the password as Obamaisanss, not Obamaisan ss or anything else.
